did some good cleaning yesterday. at this point it's mostly just regular tidying up. did not call grandma. guess i'll try to do that today. also have to make some food for the week.
but first, bike rides time
also, i finally called grandma to tell her that i'm flying in on the weekend to pick up the car i'm buying from her. she's doing her garage sale this weekend too, so i guess i still get/have to help with that.
the only part that gives me some pause is when she said that my uncle won't be around on saturday to help at all because he has something going on. normally i don't care about that, but he's the one who needs to sign the title over to me so he better not have something going on the whole day or this will get awkward. we've had this planned all month.
the joy of cooking a cheap store pot pie in the oven for half an hour only to drop it straight onto the kitchen floor like a hot gravy water balloon while taking it out
i just saw claude ai's logo and was immediately reminded of kurt vonnegut's doodle of a butthole
i am not at all surprised to find that i am not the first one to make this observation. they are almost exactly the same doodle.
ploopy bean
i don't want one and i'm not getting one but they're calling it the ploopy bean and man oh man
good mroing, happy statsturday, and the ninth of may be with you
coffee status: today for the first time i decided to see how the brazil bean does with the metal aeropress filter. still early to tell if it's good but we'll find out by the end of this post.
grocery status: got two heavy bags of groceries for less than 40usd. not bad. but i do have some celery i need to cut into sticks and then remember to actually consume.
in other news, it's a beirut weekend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw0srk4UPO8 (also, zach looks like babby in these old videos)
coffee update: the paper is better but i like this. i'll give it another go tomorrow.
you can only experience an artwork for the first time once.
but you can also only experience an artwork for the second time once. same for the third time.
this is true for exactly the first 38 times. you can have the 39th experience as many times as you want before moving on to the 40th.
a good walk round the mountain. went up and down the top once, did a couple laps around, walked the precipitous waterside trail. it's not an especially big mountain so that took about an hour.
also a couple ladies asked me for directions to a thing but i didn't get what they were talking about until a few minutes later when i was walking past that exact thing and was in fact aware of it the whole time but didn't connect the dots. fortunately our paths crossed again a bit later and i pointed them to it so that was nice.
gods, i don't know how i forgot about this gloriously stupid episode.
fred, the campy gay arms dealer and sole financier for our heroes, recruits gene to enter the women's division of this wrestling tournament to stop the four-time champion from winning a fifth title because if she wins, fred will have to, and i quote, "get married to that hormonally challenged amazon girl."
so of course the first plan is to get aisha in the tournament because being the hot buff catgirl is her whole job, but ctarl-ctarl are banned ever since one went berserk and "there were 984 fatalities." so now gene has to get in ridiculous drag and join the tournament himself. but aisha also sneaks in by stuffing another entrant in a locker and stealing her conveniently cat themed masked wrestler outfit.
also, one of the seven pirate dorks joins just for fun, completely unaware that her targets are there. shenanigans ensue.
i love this dumbass show.
okay, talked to mom and grandma today, so that should be my m-day obligation over with. mom called me, but i'm still counting it. she's busy these days anyway.
garbage holiday by the way.
i know i'm like 300 years late on this opinion but it's just a little weird that the freemasons don't at least teach the rich kids basic bricklaying as part of the initiation
updates:
-
didn't walk the mountain but had a nice little bike ride. some great headwinds.
-
had the soosh just now. a good soosh.
today's outlaw star filler ep was mostly forgettable except the one bit when suzuka made a quip and left everyone speechless
sorry if that favorite sent like five notices. i'm bad at using a mouse.
used to play osu in college if you can believe it. i stopped for obvious reasons.
good mroing and happy may10 day
cofe stat: another brew with the metal filter. it came out better than yesterday. i might start liking this bean with the metal more than paper. maybe we'll be decided by the end of the jar.
today is another cool, overcast day. thinking of going to the mountain in the afternoon. i also have some food-workings to do.
but first, another slack off morning with a couple beirut albums.
fun todo list items that i'm supposedly excited about but have been putting off for weeks:
- steel ball run ep 1
- order that soldering stuff so i can fix and/or break things
tmbg's latest album came out a couple weeks ago. i just played it through for the first time and it's a good one.
i won't say excellent yet because i usually need to let their albums cook a bit before i fall in love, but the workings are there.
it is time for an arkham cards.
starting a new run of the OG arkham campaign, dunwich legacy. this will be my third run of it, and the first in over a year. it has some rough edges at points but i do enjoy it overall.
i'll be bringing daisy walker the librarian as my clues-getter and nathaniel "nacho" cho the boxer as my fighter. daisy was in the original core set and is fairly straightforward but i still haven't played her in a full campaign. nacho has a unique events-based playstyle so he's the more interesting character and it will be cool to see how he plays.
