The AI infrastructure bubble has reached a point where companies just can’t actually spent all the money they might (notionally) have allocated. There might be money on a balance sheet somewhere, but good luck exchanging it for actual stuff like GPUs, or HVAC...

@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange I was chatting with a senior product manager at a $BIGCO a few weeks back about exactly this. They acknowledged that big deal paper cuts weren't deemed impactful enough to get resource assigned, and also that AI wasn't meaningfully changing the level of resource available to be assigned.
My take away was that "insert coin, solve problem" is a dangerous lie; but I guess a whole bunch of people dearly want it to be true, so here we are...

@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange this, but for all the things in GitHub that have been broken for years, whilst all the attention and investment is on Copilot.
If the new tools are so great then how come the backlogs aren't getting burned down?
