I think I'm going to limit my incoming emails to 1KiB of plain text. Sick of being spammed with massive html messages.

Today I learned how to make flame graphs of pythin scripts, for example https://flamegraph.com/share/0ee1205f-3a4e-11f1-8967-e63bd9af6bc1
If you have any Juniper MX304 routers, you should check the hard disk for writes as some people are seeing up to 30TB written in under 3 years.
show vmhost hard-disk-test status disk /dev/sda | grep LBA
It is disappointing that hardly anyone posts on usenet any more. Forums come and go, but usenet will be around forever.
TIL if you use trr mode 3 in firefox, it will not resolve hosts in /etc/hosts if they have upper case letters. That took me a long time to figure out.
Is there any way to configure LACP when installing Debian with the graphical installer? I have not be able to figure it out or find any documentation or even any forum posts about it.
The big problem with using LLM's for coding, is that while there is plenty of code out there, there is far less appraisal data - i.e. how well does the code fit the use case?
AIUI pip (python) does not support microarchitecture levels (e.g. x86-64-v3) so we are all stuck on the most generic binary packages.
pip-tools could be getting a new pip-lock command https://github.com/jazzband/pip-tools/issues/2124#issuecomment-4401435381
Another niggle I have with container images is that there's no indication of the time it was built. Some projects will re-use the same tag with a major version only, e.g. docker.io/library/fedora:44
The docker/oci community really needs a firehose feed of newly published image tags (e.g. `ghcr.io/linuxserver/sealskin:0.1.37-ls36`) possibly separating index/manifest, and the option to filter by os/arch, e.g. linux/amd64v3
Is it just me or are the opencontainer specs really hard to read? They do not make it obvious when a nested element ends and the next element begins. You have to rely on the example, but the example is not exhaustive.
I just upgraded my laptop from Fedora 43 to 44 (with secure boot and full disk encryption, KDE Plasma desktop). No problems.
It sure would be nice if GitHub provided rss feeds for its container repository, e.g. https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-unifi-network-application/pkgs/container/unifi-network-application
I tried installing CachyOS but the installer failed.
I have been experimenting with python freethreading (no-GIL) and I got a nice speed up when validating JSON documents using jsonschema-rs:-

TIL pypy will try to resolve type annotations at runtime, so if you use `if TYPE_CHECKING` you will also need `from __future__ import annotations`
I am very disappointed that my Kingston 2TB SSD (SNV2S2000G) has hit its available spare threshold (10%) with only 21.3TB of total writes.
Amazon has released a self-hosting version of DynamiDB called ExtendDB
I ran over my phone (Motorola moto g84). Amazingly the screen did not crack, but it developed a black spot inside the screen, near the fingerprint reader. I ordered a replacement screen from iFixit and had it swapped in a local repair shop. The new screen works fine, but now NFC is not working. Is it likely to be as simple as the antenna was not reconnected? I have tried the usual things like checking that NFC is enabled and rebooting the phone.
