@gruber@mastodon.social “On the surface, this ability should render Electron’s benefits obsolete! Rather than write one web app and ship it to each platform, we should write one spec and test suite and use coding agents to ship native code to each platform.” Now that this thought was introduced, my annoyance at ever having to use Electron again is probably going to go up a few notches.

@surdfish she was already an open platform, makes sense.

@connected changed my idea about solving @imyke's dropbox backup problem after trashcan Mac Pro follow up today –  funny: trashcan Mac Pro Dropbox backup server funnier: 2019 Mac Pro backup server funniest: buy @siracusa's (lol he won't sell) so it can live on Cost efficient? idk kinda. Is this the turnkey, low-fiddle solution Myke's looking for? Hey shut up. But think of the ✨content✨

@connected okay maybe a dumb question, but re: @imyke dropbox/backblaze problem, can you hook up an external SSD to some stationary Mac, set dropbox to download everything and then maybe use a shortcuts action to sync that to a different path and back that up via backblaze?

@overlordspock@masto.ai @marioguzman@mastodon.social My strong suspicion is that there are still plenty of people that care, but the design leadership is awful. I also bet Liquid Glass was a late pivot to try to distract from not even being able to ship AI features from *last* year so teams across Apple are struggling just to get anything that ships, much less have it be actually good.

@overlordspock@masto.ai @marioguzman@mastodon.social that's fair. I was thinking more holistically, I could see that the Mac was suffering because they just don't prioritize anything that's not iPhone, but the iOS 26 beta cycle has been so bad I assumed that this is a failure of leadership. It's not just that the design is bad, this is easily the buggiest, least performant betas i've ran since like the iOS 5 days.
