honestly i think maybe the solution is to actually just put a bunch of dedicated time aside to work on projects that aren't games! hard to feel inspired to draw when i haven't given myself the time and space to be inspired to draw

it's tricky cause i've thought a lot about just makng games that bias their work heavily towards other disciplines, but i think that doesn't address the fact that i don't get the good brain chemicals from finishing things more than i get them from doing the process of making things, and the process of programming feels so much better than the process of doing other kinds of work. maybe that's the crux of it?

i love dark souls, i love guilty gear strive, and i love final fantasy XIV fishing. no idea how i'm going to pull it off, but one of these days i'm gonna figure out how to synthesize everything i like about these 3 games into a single game and it's going to be absolutely unhinged

@gureito that checks out... i feel like i've mostly internalized the "if it looks like shit then it's punk rock" that lets me get away with anything i don't want to polish super hard, but i always get gotten by the "oh but i could spend more time and make it more polished..." which kills momentum like nothing else 🫠
