In 2016 all I felt was despair. I felt like I woke up in a different world. One that was just immediately worse.

This year I think I feel some of the same, and there's an edge of long years of exhaustion on top but I also feel like a kind of resolve? Like I'm going to do the shit I want to do. I'm gonna make things I think are worth making, give money to folks who need it and just like... keep existing and trying to put what good I can put there.

sometimes i kind of struggle with wishing i could help people feel better but i know that "feeling better" doesn't necessarily solve anything and is in fact not what always what people need.

like folks are talking about their feelings and mental health and part of my gut says "i've been in a lot of therapy, maybe X thing would be helpful" but that treads really close to "giving advice" which is really the thing that feels the worst when you're just looking for support
