Everybody (in my head) is talking, nobody (in my head) is listening.

The further adventures of being weird about pressing the right buttons in the "Import and export" menu.

You can call me Blasé, if you want to refer to me directly as a name on here; don't feel pressured into adding an accent onto that all the time. I certainly won't.

One of the interesting things about Minnesota, if I haven't mentioned it before, is the varying levels of production quality in their city branding on cars like their fire engines, police cars, etc. Some counties will have these nice colors with clear, capitalized lettering. Some will have all their vehicles have these faint, translucent tints so their vehicles blend in. And then some just have real Grade 7 MSPaint or trail of Adobe Photoshop type energy. Unfortunately, I haven't taken to walking around while filming and photographing state vehicles yet, but people who live here know what I'm talking about. #MNastodon

@ww@xyzzy.link I would say that would be a *huge* part of it; there's a lot of money behind the Big 4 sports, especially because of the recent investments and connections most of these sports have made with online sports betting and gambling services and other prediction markets. The money is there and they're using it to pay the athletes to stay and to keep expanding the game's reach as much as possible (because, for the most part, the major professional leagues are not profitable)

@ww@xyzzy.link honestly, american football and baseball (basketball and sometimes hockey) pay disproportionately higher contracts than what I see in other sports. men's sports, in particular, get disproportionally higher pay -- I think the most well paid player in the NBA is somewhere in the realm of the hundreds of millions for total salary while the highest paid WNBA player doesn't cross double digits for their millions column on their check, but feel free to fact check me because that little fact-sounding-toid came straight from the dome!

football is fittingly "America's Game" because the players, much like most investments in America, are given astronomical amounts of money to go out there and just kind of do their best and the forgiveness levels for if they don't do well vary between scathingly critical to unreasonably patient with almost no logic other than Vibes to guide those responses. in other words, it's pretty good and you should bet on the raiders.

@novarivera@mastodon.social yeah, you cracked the code, lobbyists in the coffers of Big Emily are rocking the vote this November because of MK-Ultra mind washing technology developed through years of experimenting and seeing how to best manipulate people into bending their morals and revolving into neanderthals by having them ... take out their own trash? like I'd get it if "Emily, Aged 10" was asking you to lobotomize your dog as a way of showing your commitment to Jesus, but seriously, she's just asking you to look after your garden for trash, like, can you just go outside and find a lawnchair to smoke a cigarette in or something

@psoul@sfba.social makes sense to me! I always like staying with software that is actively updated and getting new improvements, but if LXDE gives you all you want, it is solid enough. Doesn't need security patches or anything since it's not connecting to the internet.

Is it procrastination if I'm doing it exactly when I said I would do it even though exactly when I said I would do it is needlessly late in the day?

@psoul@sfba.social Hey, really cool; I've been thinking about trying out Cachy because I've heard high praise for it. Although, I have to admit I'm curious -- how come LXDE instead of LXQt? Is there no support for LXQt in the distro's repositories or do you just have a particular preference for LXDE?
