after a long time of silence, we just added a new feature to odilia, the ability to read notifications.
edit: link removed, since the page was removed on the site, pending team review
I am a fully blind programming enthusiast, I begun my programming career with bgt, a scripting language.
Now, I know #c, #c#, #rust, #python and probably others, always looking forward to learning new things.
I'm passionate about #linux, #foss, #accessibility, #screenreaders, #technology, also I'm full on with the idea of the #fediverse.
I'm one of the founders of #odilia screenreader, you can find more details in my profile metadata
Also, you can hit me up on #matrix if you want.
@thelinuxexperiment there are also a lot of accessibility fixes in the screenreader department. If that fix was able to fit in the slot window for kde 6, we can finally navigate the window switcher with alt+tab, even on wayland. The settings app has been improved, the pannel reads more apparently, we now can use KRunner better because it's faster with screenreaders, and I'm sure there's more stuff I'm forgetting. It's weird they didn't include that in the release announcement though, but O well.
hmm, what would be awesome is if I could run KWin as a standalone compositor, without the whole of kde. Then, perhaps I could combine pieces of some other desktops or something, dk, I'm into experimentation and stuff like that a lot these days, so asking the larger fedi for opinions
@hexaheximal@mastodon.social @aral@mastodon.ar.al ahh, yes, I may have, I think I did so with the @esoteric_programmer@social.stealthy.club account, depends which thread though, I believe both
@eyzov@octodon.social yes, and unfortunately this is a problem not only in the US, but also in most of the workd. It sucks, but for now that's how it is
@destructatron@masto.destructatron.net yes, but the thing is, fail2ban is largely unmaintained now, and crowdsec is supposed to be its successor. And I mean, the same thing would happen with fail2ban as well, because no, querying for /matrix/v1/keys for like 20 times with a different query parameter is not http probing, it's just how the matrix protocol works, or at least how element uses it. Sometimes it's fine, but others, it just causes bans which I later have to revoke
so, because the post on my other account didn't reach, I'll ask it here
so, I was securing my services with crowdsec, till I turned it off
why did I turn it off? well, because it kepped banning legitimate requests, which repeated too many times, but that's just how the protocol works. Refering here to matrix and mastodon/gotosocial.
is there a way to enrich those logs and make crowdsec distinguish between normal http traffic and stuff like this?
@CaribenxMarciaX@scholar.social people make money from fedi? you are...an expert in fedi? for whatever reason, those concepts somehow just can't fit quite right in the same sentence. I can't think of other VC backed campaigns which could actually make money from the fediverse than what facebook, I'm not willing to refer to them as meta and give them leaway, is trying to do with threads. Did they, perhaps, abuse the posts you shared or something like that?
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space @esoteric_programmer@social.stealthy.club oof, that's bad indeed, hopefully it'll get resolved...somehow. Yeah, in that case, I could see how my suggestion isn't a good idea rn haha. Oops, just realised that I'm using multiple accounts in this thread alone, I should sign out out of one, before more confusion ensues.
