Betsy

I spent the weekend at a weaving workshop, I learned so much and have so many things I want to try! It was a round robin thing where we all came home with a bunch of different samples we'd woven. I wove ten samples over the weekend (!!) plus my assigned one I did in advance. I still have to secure the cut ends of the weekend's samples, wash them, and ideally do some more documenting. But here are a couple of the samples so you can see what I'm talking about! #handweaving

@web_goddess@aus.social both excellent links!

In case I needed to prove that I am a fully acclimatised Queenslander after living here for 25 years - it is 19 degrees and I am sitting outside at a cafe in a big jumper and sandals

This weekend so far I have:

• made decent progress on alpaca spinning, cardigan knitting, and reticella learning projects
• learned how to carve stamps
• seen whales, an osprey, a kite, and a bunch of cool birds
• got a bunch of ideas for new crafty projects
• caught up with a bunch of lovely crafty people who live ranging from the gold coast to Maryborough
• hung out with some kangaroos

My washing machine was such a scary purchase, it felt like buying it meant I was really a grown-up. Now it is dead and I am looking at new washing machines and I feel old and tired about it 😹

Went to the tabletop weaving group and finally started winding the warp for my next table loom project... Don't ask me how many years I've been meaning to start this project!

@gannet just to be completely different, I think this is the only robin I've ever seen in person https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_yellow_robin . Definitely the only kind of robin I've seen while having a bird book or app at hand to check what it is. Very cute little rainforest bird 💛

@gannet tragic 😿

Instead of any of the actually important things on my to do list for today, I spent three hours almost straight tidying and categorising my ebook library (still heaps more to do)

LBT (https://mastodon.social/@mem_somerville/116861800878379542) There are currently only four museums listed in Australia - I've been to several regional museums that have lace and/or embroidery collections, I'll have to try and remember which ones they were and submit them! (Please help me if you know a good one, my memory is terrible)

@KathyReid@aus.social yay congratulations!!! 🎉
