@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz im looking at a neat little bed levelling probe mechanism trying to figure out if itd be compatible with an ender 3 or if id have to design my own parts to get em to cooperate
@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz@mia@movsw.0x0.st did you know that spiders experience rem sleep indicating they probably have dreams? pretty cool for hydraulic mechanisms
@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz but consider: bedslingers amuse me
like i get it, momentum is a huge problem but the stability gained from keeping the 2 most active axes separate is just elegant and makes me feel nice
@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz worst part is im almost definitely going to try that at some point. just build a little tent for it. hell probably not even a tarp but just my poncho. tarps with tie-down holes are bourgeois
@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz fair yea they're sold by the kilogram
but like. i need the equal cubes in my hand. i also need a tungsten cube. why must tungstem be so goddamn expensive
@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz figures but like
where the fuck do i get a 10*10cm cube of polypropylene? what about nylon? maybe abs?
i suppose a 3d printer would let me answer this question tho
@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz@ube@tsundere.love highly recommend getting prescribed pregabalin for anxiety. i havent had this many stretch marks since i stopped taking my adhd meds and causing a huge growth spurt
honestly, as cheap as the zeroclick is i think at that point id rather go for the btt eddy probe. its just faster cause it can sample continuously and its like 25 bucks which is perfectly acceptable to me
so i guess yea thats another upgrade ill look into before tackling the toolhead
@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz i feel like that an entirely solvable problem though? like just reinforce the underside with a super thin aluminum sheet or smth
@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz basically it uses a little compliant mechanism to add just half a milimeter of upward travel when the nozzle hits the plate and that upward travel then actuates a switch to let it know that in realspace its at z-0.5mm so it can tap the nozzle against the build plate to figure out the level which is so much less of a headache than a detachable probe that needs an attach detach process added to the firmware
also its literally like 1 switch and some wires so its like, cheap as fuck. thats also useful
plastics are funny cause like, we always make them hollow so i actually have no idea how much something out of solid plastic would weigh
suppose epoxy resin would be a decent estimate though, thats heavy
