@caseyliss@mastodon.social @atpfm@mastodon.social I've said for a long time that AI simply can't do weird properly. The example I use among my SF-reading friends is "This Is How You Lose The Time War" by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone.
There is no reality, now or in the future, where an AI would conceive a book with such a bonkers premise (one that is now a best-seller, critically acclaimed, and soon to be a TV show).
GenAI lacks the "yes, but what if we DID" spark that births the best of human creativity.
Firepit’s going, lads and not-lads 🔥
NEWS! Can you solve the murder… on a train?? 🤔🔍🚂
We are living in a William Gibson future, only with more facepalming
For six years I had a chapter in the annual Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook, on breaking into comics as a writer. As it's no longer running, and with the editor's kind permission, you can now read it on my website for free:

My latest newsletter is live, talking about beta readers, sales, and with the first confirmed dates for this summer's Can You Solve the Murder? Live events:
The UK children's reading charity Booktrust has just released their latest survey. The results are frustrating; families want to read, and enjoy it, but there are so many barriers in their way and so little support.
