Backstory of our team's best-paper-award-winning AR project 🏆 at #CSCW2022
Around 2021, @fannieliu@hci.social got our team interested in a new puzzle: how could it be that (even before covid) society experienced a "loneliness epidemic" despite living in a 24/7 digitally connected world?
Perhaps, in an attempt to reduce friction, digital interactions decreased their meaningfulness and authenticity. Just compare the feeling of getting a Facebook ‘like’ with getting a handwritten note in the mail.

I attended my first academic event about blockchains/crypto. Quick takeaways:
🔨 Blockchains continue to be a solution in search of a problem.
🔺 Open cynicism in the crypto community about its Ponzi-ness.
⚖️ DAOs are effective but resemble primitive democracies from the 1800s.
🦹♀️ Financialization of everything is a magnet for bad actors.
✂️ Smart contracts are hard. Even a simple rock-paper-scissors game is hard to program because it exposes the other player's answer.
