Mechanized infantry have "vehicles" and "morale" instead of armor and hull. When attacking you flip a coin to see which one you hit and if you destroy their vehicles they are reduced to 2"f movement

Field Gun Infantry lose firepower as they take damage! Every field gun has 2 hull and no armor and when all guns are destroyed the gun crews scatter

Battle armor doesn't need any revisions as they often do interesting things and have wacky artwork

What should motorized infantry do? Capture support vehicles by boarding them? #battletech

Does the aerotech rulebook say anything about crews using hardlight tethers to prevent the two halves of a warship from separating? Is there an option to strip a weapon for parts to repair another, or roll to see if the salvage box contains a spare leg actuator for the charger?
No it doesn't? Aerotech has plenty of crunch but maybe its not the right type of crunch #battletech

They aren't a western twist on the anime battleship like someone combined gundam with star trek, they aren't industrial rigs or toy rocketships. Without interesting wargadgets to try out it's no surprise that no one plays aerotech

I'm sure the mercenaries of the galaxy would love to zoom around in a star trek ship, photon torpedoing anything they can't steal and them beaming down giant robots onto the planet's surface completely ignoring silly things like "prime directive", but alas that is not battletech

Should the BAR special be deprecated? In classic it serves the purpose of limiting the durability of civilian vehicles. In alpha strike it just slows down the game as you have to figure out how to calculate crits differently for the truck that probably won't survive the turn anyway

The game includes two toy switchboards for simulating the experience of giving orders to your men by telephone from within your mobile headquarters because you can only issue orders to a handful of units per turn and the switchboard helps you keep track. When you give an order you have to roll to see what the unit's response is, if they are too panicked to follow your instructions, or even if they heard you correctly! And for the units that you didnt issue orders to this turn you have to consult the cards

You can also tell a unit to become a messenger but don't be surprised if your orders get scrambled by the game of telephone #battletech

The power armor rewrites your personality when you wear it reducing you to nothing more then a mindless killing machine. Injectors feed hyper-condensed myomer into your body causing you to grow muscle mass beyond what fits into the suit. Your shoulder-mounted lascannon is kept cool by belt-fed heatsinks which get reduced to molten metal as it fires but to aim the weapon you have to hold it with both hands even as the heat melts off your regenerating flesh. Your power warhammer has an inbuilt atomic bomb and if your target somehow survives that you can finish them off with the lasderringer

I've seen grognards argue that vtols are a part of aerotech and were designed to be used alongside the rest of aerotech and thus shouldn't be in the total warfare sourcebook. I should have asked the guy if he ever adds vtols to his aerotech lists #battletech

The fedsun saucership wants to beam up mechs to invade one of the other planets on the space mapsheet but they cant lower shields to do so because the cappy ship is trying to brighten their day with atomic rockets

Is there a setting where mechs use the HAG/2000 while spaceships use walls of machineguns for defense the cluster hit table is too restrained #battletech

If you have 7 unactivated units and the aces cards have 5 then you have to move two units (aces rulebook, pg 6). If you have 10 then you have to move three units! Looking at this again I realize i've been playing the campaign incorrectly #battletech

Instead of alphastrike infantry losing their only point of damage on a roll of 12 maybe they instead lose their AM special? Or maybe their vehicles blow up reducing them to 2"f? #battletech
