At #SunMicrosystems they used to give us years of service pins every 5 years to show how long we’d been around. That stopped after the acquisition so I found a different pin to show I’ve been around for a very long time.

Things I never expected at the start of my career: that one day my employers’ name would be included on a pair of race car shaped shoes available for purchase by the general public: https://www.crocs.com/OracleRedBullRacing.html

@timfoster@mastodon.social @scottishwildcat@mastodon.ie my 15 year anniversary was also post acquisition but I got a 15 year pin from one of the admins cleaning out the supply closets when we moved out of the old buildings.

@mmusante@mastodon.social yeah, Sun gave us a certificate, a pin, and a choice of a gift from their catalog. Oracle replaced the certificate & pin with a badge in the Aria employee directory and later a badge in Slack. They kept the gifts for a while - I’m still using the Apple Watch I got for 20 years - but for 25 it was just a cash bonus of $20 per year of service.

@joakimfors@mastodon.green @mjg59@nondeterministic.computer weird, I guess he didn't fix his fork after I told him that was wrong when reviewing his request to merge that into Xorg:
