I don't remember YouTube ever proposing a PHP-related video to me in decades on the platform, despite there being so many of them. Good PHP content is drowning among billions of unrelated videos.
Ask your favorite PHP YouTuber to sync their content to https://phpc.tv
- No ads
- No subscription fees
- No more being at the mercy of opaque algorithms
- New channels get announced every Wednesday
Follow @phpc_tv@phpc.social
This brings us to over 2,200 PHP-related videos!
It would help if y'all could ping conferences, user groups and other video creators, so I could focus on keeping things stable.
It's a simple process for them:
1. Request an account.
2. Copy YouTube's playlist or channel URL.
3. Paste to begin synchronizing: https://phpc.tv/my-library/video-channel-syncs
Someone mentioned Apache Solr and I immediately felt old.
Are there any folks in the PHP community with design skills willing to donate their time?
I need a 2736x650 cover for phpc.tv. No strong concept preferences, but perhaps something that incorporates thumbnails that have real people on it. No AI please.
I'll permanently affix your name on the design.
Pet peeve: unspecific method names. Some might as well be called dealWithStuff().
I managed to save quite some money by cancelling subscriptions. Now, the ones I kept almost all want to increase prices, sometimes more than 30%.
We didn't get the Web we wanted, but the Web we deserved. We should have never accepted the subscription model for software. Now we can't walk it back. They'll keep taking and taking until they bring down the host that they need to survive. And then everyone would wonder "how did we let this happen?"
I thought I could finally enjoy a weekend, but the way phpc.tv uses @cloudflare@cloudflare.social is apparently against their ToS. So now I have to find out how to keep things running while remaining compliant, on a budget, on top of their having refused to raise the upload limit, which I also need to fix somehow. I guess this is why communities keep getting stuck with YouTube, Facebook and the likes. Unless you run everything out of your basement, there will always be someone threatening to pull the plug.
Them: Get comfortable to not owning your games.
Me: Get comfortable with penny stocks.
I just sponsored https://github.com/sponsors/Grub4K who fixed an issue that affected channel sync. You should sponsor them too.
Many new PHP-related videos are now available on https://phpc.tv!
