Four months later I only recently realized I have a mastodon account. Oops.
I've been mostly staying chill since I survived all the commisioned projects including a game for Indiepocalypse. And now that I realized that I had worked on almost one project per month for six?five? months. Pretty frenzying.
I'm considering writing a recap regarding them, so I've been hesitant to make any updates on my socials... But in the meantime have this out of context WIP shot of homebrew 3D thing for GameMaker.
dbase.bsp strafe test (from quake 2 25th anniversary collaborative unit)
good. migrated from ColMesh/Trisoup based collision to custom brush based one. very janky
oh hey nice, new interface theme? colours?
it's more darker now. and my eyes that's been adjusted with darker themes are grateful for this
So far working with Quake 2's map format & rendering it turned out to be somewhat harder than working with Quake 3.
I assume it's mainly because of it being written with context of lesser standardized days of computer graphics.
And maybe it also has to do with the fact that I was working with Quake 3 maps around the time I was like, a dorky highschool lad with too much time in his hand which I believe was my personal 'peak performance'.
Now I'm kinda old? and my mind isn't as bright as before.
I am paining as the echoes of the math classes that I slept through fulminates my noggins. fun time 2024
if you know how to make a minkowski sum for swept sphere vs convex polyhedra defined as a set of planes (without having to convert them into set of vertices) then please let me know I will hug you as a reward.
all I need? is a closest point between a line segment and those set of planes in the first figure to figure it out. or an 'impact time' of line segment for the middle one
