@jolla@techhub.social I hope you retained control of OS updates. KaiOS made that mistake. Among others. Their non inconsiderable number of devices slid into obscurity also because carriers refused to update the bug ridden, security compromised KaiOS 2 and 3.

#LiquidGlass is optimized for #iOS. Only.

On iPhone - after adjusting the silly transparency - is not too intrusive and working well on the handheld device. But with more screen real estate and demanding workflows it is not. Just upgraded also to #iPadOS 26 and I am stunned about how unpolished and confusing is.

So I assume Mac Pros and Studios professional users are stuck with #macOS 26 which was originally meant for an iPhone.

@knoppix95@mastodon.social perhaps potential savings are not so important. MS could always offer a temporary discount to apparently offset those. And make decision makers look good. Digital sovereignty is more important. Obtaining the same basic functions supported by small and medium businesses. Sustaining the local economy also. Could anyone tell me why in 2025 exchanging emails, coordinating calendars, performing basic math on a grid and sharing lightly formatted documents seem such a big deal?

Booking multi operators #train journey in the #EU surely needs improvements. We all know that.

Each major national train operator booking system privileges its own trains. The most efficient multi operators solutions are simply left out.

I had to use three different booking systems to find the best solution for one round trip journey. Within the same nation.

@xhr@infosec.exchange I wonder at times if discovery speed and memory retainment of functions are increased by GUIs. Or if TUIs are equally performing in that regard. Or if people with different learning and execution styles are equally performant with their favorite UI. Or if learning curves represent the only difference. That being said if I want to be quick and lean, and mostly know how to already, I always reach for the terminal. For discovery I poke around a GUI instead.

Synchronising development of five major OS variants is a titanic effort I am sure. But user facing commonalities are now so obvious I don’t see why they bother to present them apart from each other anymore.

@RaffKarva@photog.social you are not discounting the fact KaiOS is in survival mode. As such almost all features you are asking for are satisfied by older KaiOS 2.x models. Including the absence of ads. I haven’t encountered any while setting up CAT B35 for my father. Nobody is forcing you to use the data connection. Which is not required for the phone to work anyway. Same for the Google cruft. Benefits: large battery and small energy drain. Also giving new life to an existing device.
