Cuffed at my first crack at adding colour to my MetOffice Site-Specific Hourly Spot Forecast. #trmnl is really making this easy, coupled with the Pico-W’s RTC that sleeps the device for the update frequency so running it off battery power won’t kill it.

Plotting what to do with my eventual purchase of the 13.3” colour ePaper display. Likely will need to spin up my own server to manage all the displays.

Replying to

@Edent@mastodon.social as to your footnotes, but I love the blog 1) the civil service’s distaste for Palantir is an open secret, only you don’t get the SCS (or equivalent) opining pseudo-anonymously about how much they hate it 2) I often stumble over MHCLG and often just end up with “the department formally known as deeluck.” 3) MHCLG understands the benefits of federation very well recently despite abandoning W3C-standards backed approaches to dissemination. I’m not surprised they managed this, regardless.

Is there a way to select the highest contrast rating between two colours based on a third colour using entirely HTML+CSS?

My specific use case is to select white or black foreground text based off a varying background colour.

JavaScript is not what I'm looking for here. And my familiarity with CSS has so far been dealing with transformations, and everything that was in CSS2 (I'm feeling old writing that). #wcag #accessability #lazyWeb
