I'm so keen to find out who this is because it could easily be any of about 10 bands from the local scene where I grew up. Based on the write up I imagine I'm going to be surprised

Well that was weirdly nostalgic, considering I had no idea who it was. very much felt like the sound of my Uni days and the Snakebit reference helped too
Tap n Tin also had another drink that they wouldnt mix for you, where the snakebite would come mixed. The other was a Green Monkey. A bottle of orange Reef, a bottle of Blue WKD and a shot of your choice mixed in a pink glass. Opaque, neon green and very sickly sweet
Back in the Tap n Tin in Chatham, which was my Uni local grunger bar back when I was in College/Uni a snakebite would have been something like Carling and Strongbow with a little blackcurrant squash to top it off
What's up #ListeningClub I join you this week after finally finishing the last of the demolition work at the new place. It's all building up from here! time for some good music and a lovely Suntory -196
that first drum hit sounded exactly like the one at the beginning of Monkey Wrench
Same here, new to me. don't recognise the voice either
what is this? I really like it!
this is great!!

As this last one plays out I'll let you know that you have been listening to Apparat's 2026 album "A Hum Of Maybe"
You know out of the gate I thought this could be the new Gorillaz album and even though I know who it is I'm still not convinced it isn't the new Gorillaz album...
Who knows if someone else picked this too, but if not then I chose this, but some of you definitely know who it is...
For those who don't this is Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip with "Thou Shalt Aways Kill"
Mine too...
Hands up anyone else who's going to be trying really hard to focus and spot the name drop but who would also gladly take any hints or pointers when they happen
not only does Clem Snide mispronounce Sufjan Stevens name in this track "I Got High", but also the state of Illinois, which I'm reliably informed doesn't have an s on the end when you say it out loud
Great picks all, and for any hangers on, this would have been Savvy's Pick
I'm not great at hearing the lyrics, let alone remembering them, so this months vortex was a real challenge to say the least. Thankfully I found a track that not only meets the requirements, it smashes the brief like a wrecking ball
This is throwing me off because there's strong 50's variety entertainment vocal stylings over some suspect 90's synth sounds that would 100% get sampled by someone here in the mid 20's
g'day #ListeningClub how's everyone doing?
What's up listening club. Sitting down to a light dinner looking forward to hearing what cowpunk is!
See if you guys can spot the name drop in this one...
oooh lovely transition that!
Ahh yes thank you, I do like a name drop as the first words, much easier to spot 😅
This one has a really familiar throb from my youth, which I think I might also use as the title of my memoir
Good evening #ListeningClub I have absolutely smashed through the first half of "If Anyone Builds It Everyone Dies" this weekend and am now wholly ready to spend the remaining time we literally "slip 'n' slide" our way into oblivion listening to some great choons with you all!
who shouted out Gorillaz earlier?! spot on
Sorry to say that was a little more "just when I thought I was in they pulled me back out" than vice versa. It might take another time or place for that to land correctly but I am gratefully for the history lesson
ooooff this is insane
ooooh this has Wipeout 2097 vibes and I like it
I thought for a split second there we were going to end with a 2 minute long reverb fade out
OOOHHHHHH! Banger mate, absolute banger!!!
corrrr another wonderful bass
that language switch was fluid!
Yeah enjoyed that immensley. Ive made a mental note of my favourite moments to go find out which tracks they were
Yeah I quite enjoyed it for hearing something that sounded like the makers were really experimenting.

@soundclamp I knew I felt an REM scent in the air. Wondered if it was just a time and place thing and I guess in some ways it was
#ListeningClub
submitted my two tracks, and then Savvy promptly gave a banging suggestion this morning, too late for me to submit on her behalf, which may make it into the afterparty if no one else picked it
Does a song still count for the vortex if the artists name is mis-pronounced?! Lets find out together...
well a couple of blasts from the past on that one but it was good to hear the album that contained them! cheers for the pick
Also feeling like I have heard this before, though I have no idea who it is, but was it ever remixed??
this one has some Royksopp thickness to its production with that massive bassline!
its not gone unnoticed by me how similar the first track was to the earlier stuff I had heard, and how smoothly the album has evolved into new ground
On a completely unrelated note, I saw this during the week and absolutely loved it.
delicious bridge
could this be it??
oooh I love that vocal sample effect, thats nice!
How do ListeningClub Ive got a guess based on this evenings write up, so Im keen to see if it is who I think, and if not then even keener to find out who it is!
oh that's the end? that came out of nowhere!
