Enjoying the day in the garden today in Georgia. Our first flush of potatoes . . . these are the product of a couple of left over seed Yukon golds from last year's harvest. Inadvertently dug up a couple of purple russets from the next row over. Also starting to get some tomatoes, broccoli, cucumbers, jalapenos, and our first head of cabbage. #gardening

Perhaps not, but I turned my small vegetable garden yesterday with a garden fork, and Whoa dang it! That is hard work! I think we forget how much of the climb of civilization was motivated by this one fact. Turning soil to perform agriculture is very hard. We invented tools, the plow, ox-drawn ploughing, horse-drawn ploughing, steam, and other engines to do just this one thing. Although the steam engine was invented first to pump water from mines, it proved its sheer power by dragging a steel plough through topsoil. I find this video very evocative of our history.

Do you ever get the feeling the whole world is holding its breath?
Weird.

I agree on principle. And anyone who asks for HR, doesn’t understand their purpose. Which is to filter and kill any "people problems” for a company. They’re not there to ‘help’.
