I normally don’t post paintings that are partially done, but I wanted to show my progress towards the #the100dayproject. This year, my goal is to paint a minimum of 15 minutes a day. I haven’t been painting every day for a while, and I want to get back into the groove. This piece is for some friends whose place in northern Minnesota we visit. It’s many of the songbirds I heard using the Merlin Bird ID. Can you identify the birds that have been painted so far?

I finished the painting. I like what I did with the background and evergreens. It needed to tell the story of the north woods of Minnesota without competing with the birds. I think the birds look good, but I’m not fond of the legs. I tried different ways to paint them, but they don’t always look natural. Hopefully, my friends won’t notice! The birds in order starting at the top left and working across each row left to right, moving down the painting are:
Least Flycatcher, American Restart, Nashville Warbler, American Goldfinch, Red-eyed Vireo, Swamp Sparrow, Northern Yellow Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, White-throated Sparrow, Tennessee Warbler, Black-capped Chickadee, and Blackpoll Warbler
