Just got an early birthday present and I love it so much.
Today’s sumo training
Finished off with a quick render. Will get back to working on chapter 4 now. Non-sexual male nudity.
Fenn turned out a bit bigger than how I normally draw him. I’m not mad about it 😏
Reference layers in clip studio can do more than just keep your colours inside the lines. You can do a “Clown Pass”, blocking out areas you want to keep separate while rendering, then use those colours with the selection tool. Here, Fenn’s hand holding the axe is a different colour from his chest. That means I can paint shadows without worrying about going over the line onto his chest.

Thought it would be a fun learning exercise to try translating issue 1 into Japanese.

@surejohn@woof.group Main difference is I do a 1st pass render where I use a multiply layer to do an overcast shading, where the light isn’t coming from any specific direction. Then I put a purple multiply layer over the top, and erase the parts that the light is hitting.

@surejohn@woof.group I ended up getting a brush pack. Drawing body hair yourself is fine when you only have to draw a character once. 2-3 times per page is another thing entirely.
