@deinol@dice.camp Personally, I could not stand her writing when I was in my historical fantasy era. It felt so iterative and detached. "They did this, and then they did that. After that they did this. Then they went here." I was so bored. Felt like an essay rather than a story. Guy Gavriel Kay, Hilary Mantel, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Octavia Butler are a few of my favorites more focused on complex societal themes without feeling stiff.
