@feditips Yes, it definitely is because I was on my phone & using mobile app. I'm now using the browser app on my laptop and have typed :sun on it and this works exactly as you said and I got these emojis to choose from 😎 🌻 🌄 🌅

@kim_harding@mastodon.scot wow that's powerful. Great #AltText you added there too thanks! 🤩

@feditips when I type :sun, I get no suns and these are the first 12 options to choose from 😆🤷‍♀️... :ablobcatrave: :apartyblobcat: :autism: :beaver: :beaver_bother: :blob_bear: :blobcat: :blobcataww: :blobcatbreadpeek: :blobcatcoffee:

@feditips I'm often told I'm weird. Didn't know my phone is too. 😆

@feditips oh, interesting. Most people in Scotland tend to use social media on their phones. I'm using the regular Mastodon app on my phone.

@feditips ah righto gotcha. Thanks. I have a windows keyboard, so use windows key with semi-colon to bring up the emoji menu. It's useful to know about the code you mentioned, which I will have a play around with. Is there a list of the keywords anywhere you could link to please? I have found :eye but it would be useful to have a list.

@feditips oooh - so it does. Brilliant! 🤩 I sometimes struggle with the mobility to use a mouse, so anything that gives me more keyboard shortcuts is a great help to my online accessibility. Thanks so much! 😍

@feditips Thanks! Yes, I already use a lot of keyboard shortcuts but hadn't thought to investigate the Mastodon ones yet. Much appreciated. I have a memory impairment too, so can't learn loads at once but I do try to learn a new shortcut each week to gradually build my muscle memory. Hopefully if I do end up having to give up a mouse completely, I'll have enough of a repertoire of shortcuts that it won't be too limiting for me.
