Here is the brutal breakdown of this invisible shortage Where does it comes from? Qatar is the 2nd largest producer of helium on earth. They extract it at massive industrial facilities. But because Iran has completely choked off the Strait of Hormuz all of those Qatari export ships are stuck.

Aerospace Grounded Space exploration and defense missiles rely on helium to pressurize rocket fuel tanks. It is completely irreplaceable because it does not combust or freeze in deep space.
