My general account for everything on the Fediverse - from programming to design to philosophy and social stuff to politics and making a better world. I want to network and learn stuff!
Also sci-fi, speculative fiction and writing, poking at worldbuilding with a bend towards coming from real science to inspire new scenarios not written about before.

@ludicity@mastodon.sprawl.club I‘m definitely here at the sidelines cheering for you.
I’m going to commit economic violence for the next forty years, and get so good at it that we can do that smashed out of our minds, teach other people how to do it, then die, and some of you will pick up the work where we left off.

@ludicity@mastodon.sprawl.club tbh whenever I see a data anything that‘s like "just write a YAML file for this" I go like "okay but like, can I not? Especially if you also expect me to write any kind of other language without a linter in it?"

@ludicity@mastodon.sprawl.club but also as someone who will soon enter the german/european market for data analysis/engineering (tbh I‘ve burned out of ML because my uni departments would only focus on LLMs for practicals, uuuurgh) with me finishing up my masters, this all also sure also fuels my imposter syndrome. Gonna be interesting to find out where on the range I am.

@ludicity@mastodon.sprawl.club I think my big question is: where does your experience come from that you sell in consulting? How much was built over years at a job vs taking the time to read into documentation and experience reports and doing community networking vs building your own "terrariums" of setups to have that experience building stuff up and configuring it properly?

@ludicity@mastodon.sprawl.club I see, and yeah that makes sense. So in some ways it‘s just Working On Your Feet (and taking the time to learn, more generally.) The affordance of the community (and paying people to teach you things) honestly didn‘t pip up on my radar - and now that you‘ve said it, it feels kind of obvious.

@ludicity@mastodon.sprawl.club sounds unironically like "just think of it as Eve Online skill points allocation"
(Alternatively, it‘s just like paying for and reading expensive books, except the RoI is better when another human pre-filters things for you)

@ludicity@mastodon.sprawl.club okay but you‘d be a magnificent Tyrant in Eve.
You‘d probably burn it all down with a grandiose blog post after ten years but you‘d be magnificent.
That said, the moral value of Disrupting™️ the australian tech industry cluster is greater, so maybe stay focused on that xD
(I was mostly thinking of Eve because skill points get allocated at a fixed rate. You only learn so fast. You have your budget per month, so pick your skills. In this case the budget is teach money.)
