I’ve started posting short cinematic videos inspired by the world of Beneath Still Stars across YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and TikTok.

Right now, many of them explore locations, ideas, quotes, and moments connected to the first book, but as work continues on the second Beneath Still Stars novel, you may begin to notice small glimpses of what is still to come.

The future is getting larger. 🌌

I'm editing Chapter 4 of the second Beneath Still Stars novel. One thing I love about editing is coming back to the manuscript after some time away. It almost feels like I'm reading the story for the first time, and that's one of my favourite parts of writing. #ScienceFiction #SciFi #SpaceOpera #SpeculativeFiction #CharacterDriven #HardSciFi #BeneathStillStars #SciFiBooks #IndieAuthor #IndieSciFi #ThoughtfulFiction #AmWriting #WritingLife

The Lewin Over Ink Publishing website is now live.

It’s a small home for my writing projects, including my science fiction novel Beneath Still Stars and my futurism blog In 100 Years, where I explore realistic possibilities for life a century from now.

The site will continue growing as new articles and ideas are added.

If you’re interested in science fiction or thoughtful speculation about the future, you’re welcome to take a look.

The return to the Moon marks more than a technological milestone—it represents a shift in how humanity approaches space.

What begins as exploration may grow into infrastructure, then into industry, and eventually into everyday life.

One hundred years from now, the Moon may no longer be a distant destination, but a place where people live, work, and even take a weekend vacation.

The Moon has always been part of our story.

What part of writing do I enjoy most?

There are so many parts of the process that I genuinely enjoy — building the world, imagining future technology, and developing each character and their background.

But if I had to choose one, it would be the character interactions.

That moment when a scene suddenly clicks is incredibly rewarding. When the dialogue flows naturally and the characters start reacting to each other in ways that feel real, it almost feels like I’m watching the story unfold rather than writing it.

Those are the moments that make all the planning and effort worth it.

if you write or read, what part do you enjoy the most?

One question I’ve been getting lately is about what the characters in Beneath Still Stars actually look like.

It’s an interesting question, because the answer is a bit intentional. I’ve chosen not to describe most of the characters in too much physical detail.

I’ve always liked the idea that readers can build their own version of a character in their imagination. The way someone looks in your mind can make the story feel more personal, more connected to you.

That said, there are a few small details. Marcus, was born and raised in England. Holland has a mixed Canadian, and First Nations background, which carries through slightly to Tessa. Serenai is described as slim with purple eyes, something common among the Orani.

For me, the most important part of a character isn’t what they look like—it’s how they think, how they act, and how they respond when things go wrong.

I’m curious—when you read a book, do you prefer detailed descriptions, or do you like to imagine characters in your own way?

High schools are a surprisingly recent institution, emerging during the early twentieth century as societies recognized the importance of educating teenagers before adulthood. Over the past hundred years, classrooms have adopted new technologies while still relying on the essential role of human teachers.

Looking one hundred years into the future, it is likely that the basic structure of high schools will remain familiar. Students will still learn together in shared spaces guided by teachers, but new technologies such as immersive simulations, interactive environments, and virtual field trips may expand how lessons are experienced.

Whether on Earth or on distant colonies in space, education will continue adapting to the needs of society — preparing each new generation to understand the world they inherit and the one they will eventually create.

Why I Write

I’ve always been drawn to science fiction that asks quiet questions.

Not just about technology itself, but about where it’s going, what it makes possible, and how it changes ordinary people and everyday lives.

I’m fascinated by the point where big ideas meet human choices.

In my stories, I try to build characters who feel real and place them in situations where there aren’t easy answers. Moments where responsibility matters, where decisions carry weight, and where doing the right thing is rarely simple.

I’m less interested in spectacle for its own sake and more interested in people: their character, their doubts, and the consequences of the paths they choose.

What does it cost to do the right thing?
And sometimes just as importantly,
what does it cost to do nothing at all?

That’s the kind of story I enjoy writing.

And it’s the kind of conversation I hope this page—and these books—can be part of.

Sports have survived thousands of years of cultural and technological change. But what happens when humanity begins playing games on the Moon, Mars, and beyond?

In the latest edition of *In 100 Years*, I explore how sports may remain familiar while the worlds we play them on become anything but.

The future is unwritten, but we can always choose hope.

I have not heavily described the appearance of the characters in Beneath Still stars.

But I’m curious what everyone thinks.

Would you prefer the characters remain mostly “on the page,” or would you enjoy seeing official visual interpretations of the crew and the world?

Death care is one of humanity’s oldest traditions, yet technology, urban growth, and space exploration may dramatically reshape how we remember those passed away in the next hundred years.

What if the future isn’t built on entirely new technology—but on old ideas used in new environments?

In my latest In 100 Years article, I explore a simple but surprisingly powerful idea:

Trains.

Not as nostalgia—but as a realistic solution for future transportation, even on the Moon.

Maglev systems already demonstrate incredible speed and efficiency here on Earth. When you consider airless environments, shared pressurized cabins, and the need for safe, reliable infrastructure, trains begin to make even more sense.

Sometimes the future isn’t about replacing everything.

Sometimes it’s about rediscovering what already works.

I’m very happy to share that Beneath Still Stars is now part of the Barrie Public Library collection.

Libraries play a vital role in our communities and connecting readers with new stories, and it’s incredibly meaningful to see the book available in that space.

If you’re in Barrie, you can now borrow it through the library system.

If you’re elsewhere, you can often request books through your local library—many systems accept reader requests and use them when deciding what to add.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the book and helped it reach this point.

While writing my second Beneath Still Stars book, I started thinking about the devices my characters would carry.

The first handheld mobile phone call was made in 1973, using a device that weighed over 2 kg. It wasn’t until the 1990s, with smaller phones and early handheld computers, that personal devices really took shape.

Today, smartphones, watches, and tablets are everywhere. In the near future, I don’t expect dramatic change—just steady improvements.

But looking further ahead, things may shift. Instead of carrying devices, we may wear them. A powerful smartwatch paired with smart glasses or contact lenses could replace the need for a phone entirely.

Imagine walking through a city in 2149, seeing information projected around you, and taking a call by tapping your wrist—no phone required. The future may not replace devices—it may simply make them disappear.

Televisions began as spinning metal disks in the 1920s. Today they’re thinner than ever and sharper than reality.
But will television actually change in the next 100 years — or simply adapt, integrate into our walls, and quietly endure?
