We Are R-Ladies
200+ chapters across 60+ countries. 100,000+ members worldwide.
Since 2012, our mission has been to promote gender diversity in the R community. We're a collaborative global network supporting minority gender R enthusiasts — including cis/trans women, trans men, non-binary, genderqueer, and agender individuals — to reach their programming potential.
Today, on International Women's Day, we're sharing who we are.
#rladies and #pyladies together at #positconf2024 💫
What drives R-Ladies? Our core values 💜
→ Diversity & Inclusivity — embracing all genders and backgrounds
→ Empowerment — resources, mentorship, and opportunity
→ Community — collaboration and mutual support
→ Accessibility — making R learning open to everyone
→ Advocacy — championing underrepresented genders in tech
→ Transparency — accountability and fairness in everything
This shapes how we build, support, and grow together.
R Developer Day at University of Warwick brought together R-Ladies from around the world 🌎.
Spaces like this remind us how powerful our global community is when we learn, collaborate and build together.
Thanks to Heather Turner for make this possible 💜
During useR! 2025, we had a special moment to gather at the R-Ladies meetup. It was a great opportunity to connect, share experiences, and keep strengthening our global community. 💜

We are saddened to hear of the recent passing of Lorena Abad Crespo. We were fortunate to know Lorena through her active participation in various R and R-Ladies communities. This included: giving a talk for R-Ladies Guayaquil (Ecuador), speaking at useR 2024 in Salzburg, participating in R Dev Day, developing the {sfnetworks} package, and reviewing spatial R packages for rOpenSci. She will be dearly missed. https://www.plus.ac.at/geoinformatik/department/team/abad-crespo/?lang=en
