When you go through a safe driving class, they teach you to assume everyone else on the road is an idiot who can't drive. This isn't because they are, it's because it's safer to approach it that way. In scouts you're taught that if you encounter a carrion animal, you should assume it has rabies. Not because rabies is common, but because you really don't want to be the rare case of rabies. When you're learning how to handle firearms, you're taught to assume all guns are loaded until you've personally checked and cleared it. This isn't because guns magically manifest bullets as they're handed from one person to another, it's because it's safer to make sure than to hope someone else didn't make a mistake. The only reason this is any different is because it makes weak men feel the same way they want to make everyone else feel.

Fennec on graphene wants me to install unified push. Should I? Like the title says. Stated getting this notification every time I open fennec. The push service application is no longer available. It may have been uninstalled. Please re-inable UnifiedPush. Is this something I should do or is there a way to turn this off?

We literally don't know! There's a while anthropological study called child lore that focuses on the almost universal things that children share with each other and we still can't actually find the origin of this. My theory is it's the true form of the yellow sign, the Lovecraftian rune that allows the eldrich being, Hastur, to exert his influence on mortals.

Fuck it, I'll cut it at 1mil. Doesn't matter who, doesn't matter why. Even if you dug up 1mil in gold from your own property by hand, you're a cunt for letting everyone else struggle if you sit on it and don't so something.

Yeah, if you got a kid I'd hope you'd assume everyone is out to rape them until you decide otherwise. It literally happens too frequently to not approach it this way.

Very close! It's a 3d printed nozzle for a concrete printing machine. The nozzle is a nude shrek in a sitting position, his face is attached to the machine and the concrete comes out his ass.

I've witnessed ball lightning twice in my life. None of the crazy UFO style stuff, both cases the lightning was arching between clouds and just sort of balled up and hovered there for a few seconds before fizzling out. A little more repeatable, I once stopped in the middle of nowhere in west Oregon at 2am. We pulled over on some rural road, turned off all the lights and just looked at the sky. It was the first time I'd ever been somewhere I couldn't at least see light pollution on the horizon. I grew up in a rural area, I'd always shown off the stars you could see out there, but the awe I felt in that perfect darkness seeing more stars than I'd ever managed before has actually soured my love of the sky. The sky at home looked so dull after that. I live in the city now and rarely see any stars, somehow I don't mind.

See, this is a false equivalence. Comparing a skinhead you met as a teen to the current accepted safe gun practice is like taking an anti ax YouTube video over a doctor. Some dumb fuck somewhere can have any opinion they want, it's not a standard to live by.

I'd argue if a cop is trying to kill you instead of arrest you, which is their job, then yeah, killing them back isn't exactly an asshole response. You can be an asshole for something else in the situation, but not for the mutual killing.

First off, all of those are actually normal names. I've met two Wayne families in the last year, unrelated. Most super hero secret identity names were picked to be very common. Second, you're not likely to lose any job opportunities unless the name you pick is genuinely uncomfortable for people to say. If you change your name to "Joe Fuctphace" you're not going to be taken seriously. Third, from personal experience, having a fake sounding name actually gets me more opportunities across the board. I changed my name in marriage to take my spouse's last name and make the name I've been using for ages official. I'm frequently told that it's such a cool name, places are more likely to get my order right when I call them in, and I'm more memorable in the interview process. My favorite interaction with strangers is when someone is like, "I love you name," and I get to respond, "Thanks! I picked it myself!" Normally it leads to a fun chat and occasionally a new friend.

Young Adult>Classic>Shelf A A lot of people give this book and it's cartoon shit because they were exposed too young, but it's message is something that a lot of other books don't offer so I really think it should be available. Ideally, ages 12-17 would be able to handle the content and genuinely digest the meaning while still being young enough for it to have a lasting impact on their development. Also it would be a library, not a bookstore.

Me and the fam use Nipto. You can set up point values, rewards, and even link it up with the other people in your house. Were I still single, I'd have absolutely gotten a few of my other single friends on it and turned it into a competition where the one that does best picks the venue and the one that does worst buys the drinks. Then it would also incentivize social interaction.

Mulvad gives you a 16 digit random number when you sign up. Anyone with that number can use that account, it's on you to not lose it, if you do you have to make a new account. You send them money and an account number and they add balance to that account. When it's out, that account is blocked from service until they get more money. You hack their service and you get a list of numbers and whether or not they have service. They keep no documentation and if you pay with card you have to manually input every time. I know them better than they know their users.

Think of it like an expert playing dumb to catch someone lying about their specific field of study. If I go out and say I'm a former government agent who had access to the must classified of classified documents, someone has to actually look into that on the off chance it's real. If I follow by mentioning I know the truth about Kennedy, you can basically close the case there as there's no "truth" to be known.

Never understood not helping pan handlers. Fuck am I going to spend that cash on? A soda? A candy? I don’t need more of that. Who the fuck cares what they spend it on? At least if he goes and gets meth with it, I know it’s going back into the economy. Dealer probably isn’t gonna spend it on amazon prime. I’ve yet to meet a dealer that doesn’t spend most of their money on pets, drugs, and food. That guy in the picture isn’t failing to pull himself up by his boot straps, he’s the victim of a society that is designed to make an example of him to scare the rest of us into submission.

I’ve been running the same deck for 12 years now with various twists and turns in the build. Imagine you’re standing in an empty warehouse and I paint a big red X under you before tediously assembling the worlds most complicated mousetrap filling every square inch of the space. For the first half you’re amused because it’s so precarious it couldn’t possibly work but then you’re confused because it just keeps going and getting weirder. Finally you attempt to parse out what thus thing actually does and before you get to the 8th moving part you die of an aneurysm as you realize I’ve just been building Inexplicable rule interactions to simulate a first person view of unmedicated ADHD.

That’s kind of been the standard for the history of the game though. One of the first things I teach a new player is that every rule is followed by a footnote that reads “unless a card says otherwise.” Exile has always been the “don’t touch me til you do the thing” area.

I’ve been having an internal crisis this year that I feel is relevant to part if this. I’ve spent my whole life dedicated to the idea that you can appreciate art in spite of the artist. My favorite author is Lovecraft, his long winded style with a mix of fluttering anxiety and dry academia is deeply relatable to me and while I understand the extreme xenophobia of his beliefs are foundational to how he conveys the horror of his writing, I find it hard to actually see that in the minds eye. When I read about a lost civilization of gorilla people in Africa and the man that took one as his wife, it’s not a coded fear of finding out you’re actually part black, it’s finding out your grandma was banging Gorilla Grod and that’s why you have this much hair. I was content with this. One can find meaning in art without agreeing with the artist. I’d even go as far as to say we should engage with art like this. A tree without the thrashing of the breeze does not have the roots to support its lofty reach. Like the tree, we must have our convictions and views tested to break those that don’t serve us and strengthen those that do, lest we find ourselves in the ire of this image’s creator as someone who condemns an art for daring to tax our roots. However, even the taproot of this belief strains under the weight of the gales that are the Epstein situation. So much of the media that I once championed for daring to depict what I read as benal inclusion are shadowed in doubt now. Everyone knows the scene from IT, but when I read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by King, I found it’s inclusion of bathroom activities added to the realism. Shitting your guts out because you drank raw stream water isn’t often detailed in survival stories. Knowing now that King was on the island, the details description of how to piss in the woods as a 12 year old girl, or the cooling comfort of washing her ass in the stream after her explosive ordeal, I have to question whether it’s there for realism or there because he couldn’t justify a gang rape of this character like he could in IT. It doesn’t stop there. Actors, directors, painters, writers, TV producers, animators, Evey time I take a closer look I find the rebel that dared was not making a bold assertion against the status quo, they were just using their position to make more pornography for themselves. Kricfalusi wasn’t making a statement with Ren and Stimpy, he was half assing a cartoon while extorting two teenagers into being sex pets. Nickelodeon knew, they didn’t care because most of the people responsible for my childhood were using their positions to fuck the children I looked up to. Bakshi didn’t care when he hired Kricfalusi either and now I have to wonder if Fritz the Cat and Heavy Traffic are the bold critiques of societal wrong or just a fury porno and racism pretending to be intellectuals. At some point, I think we do have to draw a line, and the more I uncover, the more I find that it would have been justified to put down the media when I felt icky about it.
