@faithinhumanity_diminished@poa.st @Jim@poa.st I don't recall, but it wouldn't surprise me. I stopped watching him when the show degenerated into spectacle of alcoholism. Even when he was in a better mental state, he still drank too much and oriented his life around alcohol. To your experience, the meth/blue-collar dead end pipeline is real, and it's a tragedy.

@Jim@poa.st To answer your question about how a man could so utterly destroy the great opportunities he created, I think the answer is that some men are terrified of success. I think the drugs and alcohol are exacerbating a general anxiety about growing success and inheriting success's responsibilities. The destructive pleasure-seeking is a two-fold response to that anxiety: it provides relief from the weight of responsibility, and it destroys the success that creates the responsibility. It's quite rational, I think. It's tragic and destructive, but the logic of it is sound.
