Today, I had the honour of laying a #remembranceday wreath at the cenotaph of Edmonton’s historic Jewish cemetery. I was very touched that a delegation from Edmonton’s Ahmadiyya mosque attended the ceremony, laying their wreath right next to the one from the Beth Israel synagogue. I found the whole ceremony a powerful reminder of Edmonton’s deep #Jewish roots, of the need for heroism in the face of fascism, and of the power of #Edmonton #multiculturalism #yeg #yegheritage

For obvious reasons, I’ve thinking a lot about the excitement of my first days on Twitter, back in 2009 - about the way #yeg was such an enthusiastic early adopter of the platform, the way a keen group of people who cared passionately about Edmonton and Alberta came together to debate public policy around everything from royalty rates to hockey arena funding. It was so organic, so fresh, so fun.
At the #UniversityOfAlberta tonight to moderate the Chancellor’s Forum on the Future of Food. #yeg #agriculture #beef #climatechange #foodsecurity #Edmonton
Very excited to be moderating this #ualberta forum this week on the future of #agriculture in #Alberta and on the challenges and opportunities of food security. Please join us, in person or online. https://www.ualberta.ca/events/agriculture-life-environment-sciences/food-for-the-future.html #foodforthefuture #UniversityofAlberta #yeg #universityofalberta #Edmonton #SenCa #AGFO #sustainableagriculture
So pleased to speak to Grade 9 students at Esther Starkman School in #Edmonton this morning, about the evolution of the modern Senate. (I was supposed to be speaking at another Edmonton junior high in person tomorrow - but the school just notified us that they are on respiratory disease outbreak status, so we will be postponing.) Zoom meetings aren’t as much fun, but they do still seem prudent for now. #EPSB #yeg #SenateofCanada #SenCa
I didn’t originally write this for Remembrance Day. But it seemed more apt to post it this November 11th than ever. https://albertaviews.ca/finding-fortitude/ #RemembranceDay #LestWeForget #Afghanistan #covid #Ottawa #November11
