I was able to create an image using Google Gemini 3/Nano Banana that helps me know what my great great great grandfather John Call may have looked like. What I had to begin with was a small scan of a photo copy of an albumen print.
I wrote about how I did it on my substack at https://pattyhankins.substack.com/p/john-call-meets-nano-banana

And you'll be glad to know - her twin brother was named Francis Marion Shafer. Because of course he was 🤣

This looks like a great event from The New York Genealogical & Biographical Society - NYG&B - just registered. Among my ancestors & relatives I've got farmers, railroad workers, ministers, blacksmiths and a vaudeville performer - so looking forward to so many sessions.

I generally don't like most AI transformations of historic photos, especially into videos. But I am impressed with how Julianne Kost suggests using AI to help create prompts for use in Firefly. Kost clearly tells Firefly what to do, what to change, and what NOT to change.
