@crisps@mastodon.social @bruces@mastodon.social I am not sure if there is an actual AI suggesting the lower route, but the upper route is shorter, which is visible if you have a globe. On Mercator projected maps (aka most maps) it looks like the upper route is an arc, but it actually is a straight line.

@Lilith@chaos.social ahhh... Zwei Tage in Folge Ohrwurm wegen deiner Toots! Danke für nichts 🎶🎶🎶🎶

@joshbressers maybe looking into it... *Checks notes*... First of December 2037. A month sounds like plenty of time ^^

@AndrewRadev I think this is aimed at companies that should spend this per engineer, not at engineers that should pay it themselves. which I still find fascinating, because it would put the cost of a human engineer at $30k per month plus the usual salary. This would imply that AI will not make companies run cheaper/better by reducing salary costs, but rather that AI gives you more than 3x value per dollar than a human worker. I want to doubt that ^^ or I need a raise...

@osm_tech in other words they made up half the traffic to the tile server? O.O

@pnorman @foxy IIRC you once implemented error tiles with text content didn't you? They could be used for a call-out (if you don't do this already): "your app is violating our ToS, app developers please read XYZ" (At first I thought about including an email address, but that might make customers call you... This might be risky...)

@Lilith@chaos.social ist halt toll wenn der Digitalminister das vorschlägt, weil der es ja auf keinen Fall umsetzen muss ^^

@ehashman@cloudisland.nz WTF, is this a serious proposal? I only made it to the introduction part until thinking that the language is more marketing than usually expected from an RFC.

@tml@mementomori.social @crisps@mastodon.social @bruces@mastodon.social yeah fair. All projections have weaknesses. Though this specific issue is a classic problem of Mercator, isn't it? But yeah: I don't hate any map projections ^^
