@dalias@hachyderm.io @Khrys@mamot.fr it's an hook from the 'site' module, which is what implements support for user installable package locations, and can be disabled completely. if your threat model allows malware to be installed to those locations, you are already compromised anyway. the hook isn't great sure — it's an old design that's difficult to replace without major downstream breakage — but there are many other ways you can amplify the attack, regardless.

@f4grx (moving to DM) yeah, it seems he's more interested in this than fixing the TPM2 code that he introduced in 260 that literally prevents systems from booting if your TPM2 vendor is a little quirky

@ptmcg@fosstodon.org my personal favorite development from the past couple years has been moving f-strings to the grammar parser in 3.12 (PEP 701), which now allows using the same type of quotes inside an f-string that uses that quote type (eg. f'foo{'bar'}')

I needed to do some Windows development, so I tried setting up WSL. I ran the CLI command to install a distro, and all followup commands were erroring out saying the distro wasn't installed. the list command didn't show anything either. when I re-ran the install command, it would tell me that it *was* installed... well, apparently there's an initial setup step that is needed to finalize the installation, and to run it you need to launch the distro environment via the GUI 🙃

checking it out, the A4 regulator PCB is outputting 10.6V instead of 18.6V, so thankfully it doesn't seem like the reference was damaged

this particular unit was already scheduled for maintenance, because it stopped charging the batteries
