In the woods yesterday, I harvested my 2nd cubic meter of other people's trash so far this season. I'm proud of this, honestly: I pulled a full gallon jug of antifreeze out of a marsh, sealed, before it could leak

I did it! I mailed out a bunch of
@ReckoningMag@climatejustice.social X to supporters, bought packing tape so I can mail out more, and made it down to the mill ruins by the bike path to efface some white supremacist graffiti, all on my bike in the hour between lunch and a meeting
Harvest two armloads of garlic mustard, being careful to pull slowly to get the whole plant including the roots. Take it home, chop off the roots and some of the stems, then strip off the leaves and flowerbuds. Discard the woody parts of the stems. Wash thoroughly, then process down to only a quart or so--the stems are a lot of the volume. Use a serious food processor, a blender doesn't have enough oomph.
Add gradually while processing:
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 cup shredded parmesan
1/3 cup pine nuts or walnuts
3 cloves garlic
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp salt
Adjust flavors to taste, then pack into jars, making sure to get all the air bubbles out! Pour on a top layer of olive oil and seal. Refrigerated, keeps for a year at least.

two fundamentally non-interoperable paths diverged in a wood, and I chose the one my shoes fit
"LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE MAKING LEMONADE!" the crazy old loud lady shouts at me across the brook as I ski past, smoking a cigarette on her back stoop in 11 degree weather so it won't set off her oxygen.
"TO ME, THIS IS THE SUGAR!" I shout back mushily between numb lips. "THE LEMONS IS EVERYTHING ELSE"

The other day I broke the handle off my compost turnin' shovel. It served me long and well and I am determined to forge it a new handle out of invasive wood as is my wont. However, today I picked up a cubic yard of trash from the side of the bike trail and what did I find? A compost turnin' shovel!
