My first #footpathfriday post.
Hiking down from L’Observatori Fabra on Tibidabo in Barcelona. The trail down from the observatory winds its way through a nice mix of vegetation and great views of the city.
I highly recommend visiting the historic Fabra Observatory and doing the tour next time you're in Barcelona!

No. 38 in my photo collection of signs of unique Spanish-language business names ending in 𝗲𝗿í𝗮: CUPCAKERÍA
In Spanish, the 𝗲𝗿í𝗮 suffix can be added to just about any word to indicate what's made or sold at a business, and that includes tacking 𝗲𝗿í𝗮 onto what is clearly a non-Spanish word like "cupcake." It still works!

"6 Times Horizon" by Antony Gormley embedded in the ground at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh.
This is by the same artist who created the sculpture in Rotterdam shown in my previous post. It wasn't until just a few days ago that I realized I had photographed two works of art from the same artist in two different cities and three years apart.

Probably the most recognizable piece of public art in downtown Denver is the "big blue bear" — officially named "I See What You Mean" by artist Lawrence Argent — which stands 40 feet (12 meters) tall and appears to be peering into the glass-walled front of the Colorado Convention Center.

No. 46 in my photo collection of signs of unique Spanish-language business names ending in 𝗲𝗿í𝗮: DISQUERÍA
Broadly, "disco" in Spanish means "disc" or "disk" in English, including specifically an audio/video disc, vinyl record, etc., with a "disquería" being a store selling such products.
Note that the 𝗰 in "disco" has changed to 𝗾𝘂 in the process of adding the 𝗲𝗿í𝗮 suffix. In Spanish, as in English, a 𝗰 followed by an 𝗮, 𝗼, or 𝘂 has a hard "k" sound while a 𝗰 followed by an 𝗲 or 𝗶 has a soft "s" sound. The last letter of the root word is dropped before adding the 𝗲𝗿í𝗮 suffix, so in this case we'd end up with "discería." But this would cause the 𝗰 to undergo a change in pronunciation from a hard to soft sound. In Spanish, a word's original pronunciation must be maintained during conjugation or when adding a suffix, so the 𝗰 must be changed to 𝗾𝘂 to maintain a hard "k" sound, giving us "disquería."
