I loved ripping music modules from Amiga demos and games and I've often wondered what a ripper would look like for the Atari 2600.

It's very difficult to do on the 2600 because of the lack of standard formats. But I think I've found a way.

What we can do is record the audio information from the live emulation, which can then be saved to a format of our choosing.

The web based tracker you see in the 2nd half of the video was developed by Matthew Halpern.

@cstross@wandering.shop My favourite description was from a lecture given by Rob Pike. He said something like, "LLMs consume Internet in order to produce more Internet".

@sdjmchattie I guess this stuff just isn't for me. But that's okay because I like programming. If I were a painter, I wouldn't stop painting just because somebody invented the camera obscura.

@sos For me assembly programming was AsmOne or Devpac. C programming was SAS/C or DICE compiler and edited with CygnusEd.

This old lady in #KCD2 has a USB stick hanging from her belt.

v0.7.3 of Test7800 my Atari7800 emulator (I really need a new name. It's progressed further than I expected when I started the project)

Introduced a very annoying bug in a single commit. I've been staring at it for several hours and can't see what the problem is

I thought I'd give Claude (via the Github interface) a go, because people seem to enjoy it and report success with it

My prompt gives two commit IDs and I asked Claude to analyse the differences to see why the bug may have occurred (I included some details of the bug)

Claude responded that it doesn't have the commit diffs available to inspect

Complete waste of time.

I gave in and installed Claude Code. I just want to see what the fuss is about so I'm using a local model. This is the conversation. It's hilariously bad.

I'm looking for a data sheet for a very old RAM chip with the serial number CO20231-01. The Internet has failed me so far.

Can anyone in #electronics suggest a good place to ask?

Playing #KCD2 I'm genuinely shocked at the consequence of turning down one of the missions. I was not expecting that at all.

Gridlock: a lovely version of a Rush Hour sliding-block style game for the #Atari2600, by the irrepressible Andrew Davie

The comment gore I find in my own code is sometimes so bad I have to wonder what's going on in my brain. The code works but the comments are borderline gibberish.

@grumpygamer I keep trying this stuff every few weeks and have zero success every time. Even just initialising a project is a challenge. I just don't get it.

I was hoping this website was a list of bin collection times. Definitely an area councils need help with https://gtfobins.org/

GTFOBins
gtfobins.org

GTFOBins

GTFOBins is a curated list of Unix-like executables that can be used to bypass local security restrictions in misconfigured systems.

Replying to
@idiot@mastodonapp.uk It's the RAM chip used in Atari published cartridges for the 2600.

Replying to
@idiot@mastodonapp.uk Yes the 29128 is the ROM chip in the cartridge. The second chip below it is the RAM chip. It's the RAM chip that's providing a bit of mystery.
