Yet another hit piece by NYT. Remember how NYT incessantly attacked Mamdani during the democratic primaries for the NYC mayoral race?
Now they are going after the democratic contender for Susan Collins' Senate seat in Maine.
The owner of NYT must hate candidates who stand up for ordinary people against billionaires like himself.

Theocracy in Iran is a foul regime. But so is a genocidal apartheid state. Why punish one on behalf of the other? And what have American taxpayers got to do with it all?
I support a non-oppressive state for Iranians, the end of genocide and apartheid for Palestinians, affordable healthcare, education and paid maternity & paternity benefits for Americans.
Enough with military industrial complex sucking up all the resources leaving citizens dead and destitute.
What is happening to Palestinians will happen to us all. We are witnessing the end of the Western civilization, which like all civilizations must end. Those of us who feel immune to human suffering will be proven wrong.

So many US legislators are ancient and can barely work, but it doesn’t stop them from receiving lucrative salaries and benefits while American families struggle. The US legislators are among the highest paid in the world. The levels of legislators’ salaries and perks inversely correlate with the quality of democracy. Two other “democracies” where legislators enjoy greatest perks are Japan and Italy. #uspol

Why does the legacy media call those politicians who demand policies that actually benefit ordinary Americans "progressive" in a negative tone? Yes, they are demanding affordable healthcare, childcare and education and safe school environments where kids don't get shot dead.
Citizens in all other wealthy democracies enjoy these things even in countries long governed by rightwing parties such as Japan and Italy.

I highly recommend an excellent documentary, Coup 53 (2019).It’s about how the British spy agency MI6 and the American CIA orchestrated a coup against the democratically elected and incorruptible Mossadegh. CIA propped Shah’s regime and helped create an oppressive secret police.
It’s a must-watch film to understand what’s unfolding. Western powers hate to have democratic leaders in oil-rich countries. They much prefer greedy and corrupt autocrats.

We are finally seeing the ugliness of the Western world. Long hidden to the citizens of the Global North. We were told that our governments upheld universal values such as press freedom and human rights. It was all lies.

Trump initiated an illegal war against Iran. Iran retaliated in the only way it could. First attacking US bases in the Gulf region and then escalatinng to hit oil facilities. Gulf states are victims of this war! Why do they have to pay anything to the US? Trump should be asking Israel to pay for the US military cost. It's a war Israel wanted as stated by the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
Most of my American undergraduate students think that the closure of the Straight of Hormuz is no big deal. They have zero understanding of the magnitude of the problem. #iran #energycrisis

Trump Administration is full of crooks. People like Hegseth and others are in the Cabinet to enrich themselves. Hey, the President and his whole family are making like bandits. This is totally OK, Hegseth would argue. The POTUS can always pardon you if you give him some of your corrupt money. Money buys more money.

I can't believe that I've registered myself as a parishioner in the neighborhood Catholic Church. I was raised Catholic by Catholic parents, but had stopped going to Church a very long time ago for various reasons.
The genocide in Gaza, the rise of tech billionaires with Messianic delusions, and the rhetoric of white Christian supremacy have pushed me to join a very progressive parish.

We shouldn't forget that certain countries were and are willing to commit any crime for territorial expansion. They have committed committed the worst kinds of crime against humanity--ethnic cleansing, genocide and taking the whole world economy as a hostage (with certain consequences of death for many more in addition to people they have already slaughtered).

INSANITY. All the jet fuel used to fly miliarty aircrafts, the oil burning in the bombed refineries… Wars are environmental disasters. Think about all the extra carbon emissions due the war in Ukraine, the crazed destruction of Gaza—now spreading to Lebanon—and the Gulf region set ablaze for a new crusade. The crazed leaders not only destroy any sense of morality, but they also want to destroy our physical world.
Netanyahu should send IDF and his sons to carry out whatever military operations in the Persian Gulf he desires. No American soldier should be sent to fight for something that's not a vital interest to Americans. Why should any American soldier die to keep Bibi out of jail? Almost 90% of Israeli citizens are supporting a war against Iran. They should go ahead by themselves. Americans are already paying for their war. The least they can do is to spare any American blood.

In a Spanish high school, we learned about the archaic form of Spanish spoken by the Sephardic Jewish community in Turkey. They lived in the Iberian Peninsula during the Islamic rule and were expelled when the Catholic Kings took back the whole peninsula (Reconquista). Note: Christians expelled Jews while Muslims didn't.
The aggressor is always the victim and even a genocide is an act of self-defense. One rule: The aggressor needs to be of European blood. (Some Slavs are excluded unless they migrate elsewhere.)

I had missed this NYT article yesterday. I learned about it while reading Haaretz this morning. It’s a detailed account of how Netanyahu manipulated Trump by presenting him with an extremely optimistic scenario. I’m a big fan of one of the authors of the article: Ronen Bergman, Tel Aviv. He writes the best pieces on Israel for the NYT. He’s a great investigative journalist.
We have starved and killed so many innocent people. It will come back to haunt us. The Epstein class’ rabid obsession with brutality will destroy us all. Shortage of food, energy and more natural disasters will be our punishment. The Epstein class will horde everything so that they will have plenty. For them, we are less human. We are all Palestinians.

Apparently, American Catholics are abandoning Trump. Whenever Trump and Vance insult Pope Leo, this scene in Sorrentino’s The Young Pope comes to my mind. In this scene, Jude Law, as Young Pope, blackmails the Italian Prime Minister (played by Stefano Accorsi). It’s quite funny seeing Pope Jude Law threatening to tell Italian Catholics not to vote for Accorsi. Great dialogue.

Why does Merz criticize AfD when he himself makes it abundantly clear that human rights only apply to Europeans and their descendants? This guy supports the genocide in Gaza.
