My brother is 88 years old and disabled. He was born in Washington DC, & is a retired Roman Catholic Monsignor in the Archdiocese of Washington. He lives in a nursing home for the poor operated by nuns.
Returning home from the Washington Hospital Center yesterday his medical transport was stopped at a checkpoint at North Capitol & Michigan Ave.
He has no valid ID. His name is Joaquin.
He got through, but damn this terror campaign.
On May 16, 1971, my wife's cousin Craig Farlow was shot down after inserting ARVN Marines near Hue in Vietnam. His helicopter exploded on impact. His remains were never recovered.
He had just turned 23.
Laura wrote in an online memorial, "Craig was the best of us."
