Welp, while I await surgery, I decided to dust off my XFCE ClassicLooks theme I forked like 5 years ago, tweaking it for Gnome/GTK4 as well (and Qt5 and Qt6 - probably overkill though).

Welp, this will be my last run until after surgery. Is there a Walkers of Mastodon, lol? 😆 I will be doing more walking and light elliptical use.
I've had multiple instances of collapsed vestibular episodes, and I'm done powering through this in the interest of not losing my hearing, or worse. I'm one stubborn son of a bitch, but I've been doing more damage to my body over the last 14 months than I should have been (under the guise of this being long covid and part of recovery). The plus side, though, is my body didn't decondition for 14 months while I figured out what was wrong with me. This was countered by delayed metabolic syndrome too, so I'm still a loser.
Now walking with a cane, limited stairs, and more playing with blood pressure medications until I get my inner ear surgically fixed. Also trying to get my adrenal system back in line. I need my mental energy to do this; doctors have been nearly worthless. I know what needs to be done; it's a matter of getting there.
See you all in a few months, hopefully when I can run again. I'm really hoping to still do the half marathon I signed up for in October.
You all are great; I appreciate seeing your awesome runs, PRs, and just getting out in nature. I will still follow the tag and cheer you on; if you don't feel like running, run for me at least, as I cannot!
Welp, first surgery was a failure, surgeon can’t find the tissue he surgically attached last week 🤷♂️ Another month of walking outside or on the treadmill, and no swimming. Keep up #runnersofmastodon, I’ll be back eventually 😀 #longcovid
And here it is, my second outdoor run this year! Two in one week. Some nicer weather. Health has been meh, but I was able to finish strong for both (only latest shown). #running #runnersofmastodon
Indoor track run. Debated running outside, but the wind started to pick up, and rain was in the forecast (plus random ice and ICE). I figured out the foot pod, so the Garmin is tracking my track runs inside now, somewhat accurately it seems.
Hoping to get back to 5 days of running in a week (probably not this one, lol), my health is not doing so great; cholesterol and BP are high, and asthma and chronic pain have been a bit of a struggle. I weigh more than I have ever weighed in my life too, so a diet started to complement the exercising. Life with #longcovid and middle age 🤷♂️
Indoor run today, windy and cooler out. Looks like spring (proverbial) took a break for a week 😄 City turned off the holiday lights; very northern State thing to do. #running #runnersofmastodon
1 day pre-op for PLF patching and repair. Hopefully some progress tomorrow. In and out of the ED for heart issues that are all a minor cascading dam about to break. Man, I miss my family.
FFS, I’ve been deteriorating rapidly the past two months with #LongCovid. One reason I struggle to seek treatments for my symptoms is this: I can’t keep up sympons, specifically potassium (hypokalemia life long), and the ER always pins it on my pre existing MH issues.
I started showing up to the ED for low potassium (at one point in the 2s), and severe sore throat (no structural cause they found).
I have metabolic syndrome from covid (no, not nearly obese, very active and healthy lifestyle until a very recent crash).
My core symptoms are getting worse because I’m taking a diuretic for a condition a doctor doesn’t know how to treat 🤦♂️ Fortunately my surgeon does, who I see Thursday.
The fallacy of Long Covid - too many cooks in the kitchen, and a siloed medical system.
One helluva surgery out of the way, keeping food down, and recovering at my folks' home. No oxycodone for now; I'll try to avoid it. The vestibular system is a giant WTF, but I can still type a little. Oof, this is a journey that really sucks. #LongCovid
I hope others are doing well, if not better than my recent crash anyway.
