@sickburnbro@nicecrew.digital @flux@nicecrew.digital Pokémon in the 1990s were also something still new and exciting, come to think of it.

@DarkGura@detroitriotcity.com @Fullmetal2255@shitposter.world To clarify, I'm not condemning this trait, just observing that it exists.

@flux@nicecrew.digital @geistigbehindert@detroitriotcity.com @sickburnbro@nicecrew.digital Fire Red is just a remake of the original Red Version for the GBA (now ported to Switch) with higher fidelity sprites and a lot of quality of life improvements.

@flux@nicecrew.digital The dissident right has its own version of this issue, unfortunately.

@grey@poa.st I miss this aesthetic so much, you have no idea. Thankfully there's been a bit of a resurgence in the form of custom shells for modern systems and devices.

@Myles@poa.st @admin@detroitriotcity.com There are no "honest brokers" in this conflict because every belligerent has a very obvious motivation to lie. One of the best ways to examine these kinds of claims for credibility is to ask for specific details about an alleged event. Which ships? Which aircraft? Where did they launch from? Did they have the range to get there? What weapons were used? Can the ships/aircraft/weapons be employed in the manner in which they are alleged to have been? It's more work, but it is much better to examine claims than to take government propaganda announcements or Telegram rumors ("OSINT") at face value. This is especially important when the announcement aligns with one's own biases or desires.

@pepsi_man@poa.st Sometimes we're like dogs begging for a pot of boiling water on the stove. We don't know it's bad for us, but we think we want it. And sometimes God, in His mercy, answers our prayers with "No."

@Fullmetal2255@shitposter.world This is largely true of normies as well. In real-life discussions, I've had people cite movies they've seen as evidence of a concept being true. This is why stories and media are so important. They shape people's worldviews in ways that they don't even realize. The brain struggles to differentiate between reality and fiction, and since most people lead rather ordinary lives, their only frame of reference for a lot of situations is the media they consume.
