#EXAPUNKS Your body has been infected by a Phage that turns your flesh into random bits of circuitry. Left untreated, you’ll gradually lose bodily function as your nerves, blood vessels, muscles, and organs turn into useless computer parts. There’s a drug that halts the progress of the disease. And it only costs 300 dollars. A day. For the rest of your life. Don’t like that deal? Then print out a copy of the underground hacker zine that’ll teach you to all of Alternate Universe 1997’s technology to your will. Including your own body. Hope you like writing Assembly code.

I dunno, I guess I think punitive justice is an inherently fucked up concept. When I was a kid, adults used to say two wrongs don’t make a right. At first I thought they were full of shit, but as I grew older, I learned how horrible prisons are and how they don’t make people better. In Christianity, you have to mean it. People can’t turn their beliefs on a dime like that, meaning it takes work. You have to have done the work. Anyone who’s successfully sacrificing Jesus would basically be capable of giving a meaningful apology to the victims and rehabilitating themself. Still, heaven isn’t for Me. It’s just not My aesthetic. When I die, I’m going to Ninuan.

The 264 billion gallons absorb enough energy from the data center to evaporate. They turn into a gaseous form and rise into the sky where they become clouds. The clouds will eventually precipitate and turn into rain, but it might take months and months, and it probably won’t happen in dry areas with low rainfall. It might even happen over the ocean, turning the clouds into undrinkable salty seawater.

I love rats. I’ve never had any pet rats, but I would like to when I own My own house. Right now I rent and I’m poor and I have refugees in My family who I need to work to bring here to Australia. But one day we’re going to have a mortgage and some rats. I wouldn’t mind working professionally with rats. As long as I believe the harm they’re suffering is worth it for the beings the science will one day help. I want to be kind to the rats and tickle them and help them get through any painful procedures like injections.

Rat tickling improves animal welfare, gets rats used to handling, and creates a bond between people and rats. It also calms rats down and helps them get through stressful situations. Labs tickle rats to improve experimental validity and animal welfare. A rat that has been tickled for at least 3 days will be used to human touch, and understand humans to be fun friends. So, when a rat needs an injection or some other form of experimental manipulation, it doesn’t get as stressed out by it. As part of My rat tickling certification, I saw the difference in how a tickled rat and a non-tickled rat respond to receiving injections. The non-tickled rat was freaked out, it was reacting like it was in pain, and afterwards it looked quite stressed. The rat that got tickled and then given the injection was relaxed, mostly happy, and after being put back in its enclosure, immediately went back to exploring. Rat tickling is also a great way to produce 50hz vocalisations, which are the most accurate measure of rat happiness. So if your experiment is investigating animal welfare, you can use tickling and vocalisations as your dependent variable. For example, you might be testing an antidepressant on depressed rats. You want to know how effective the antidepressant is, so after dosing the rat, you tickle it and count its giggles. A happy rat will giggle more.

No, the word didn’t enter the popular lexicon because people loved the French language. It entered the popular lexicon because people with disabilities were seen as acceptable targets. Citing the prior history of the word is a false etymology. There’s a reason people use that word instead of “delayed” or “slowed”. Can you imagine if I said “This rhetoric from people I disagree with is fucking slowed.” It doesn’t have the same bite, because it doesn’t use disabled people as punching bags.

Market socialism maybe. Look up mutualism and anarcho-syndicalism. But personally I don’t think we need to do that. It’s to each according to need, not to each according to ability. We shouldn’t give people less because they’re disabled or more because they’re abled.

JK Rowling really likes to make the villains in her books fat. Umbridge, Vernon, Dudley, Goyle. The characters who embody bullying are nearly always fat. She thinks a person’s weight is okay to make fun of if they’re a bad person. Rowling fans like to cite Molly as a counterexample, but I think that’s missing the point. The fact that the narrator is so mean about these characters’ weight makes it clear that weight is on the table as something to make fun of, if Rowling thinks you deserve it. She thinks being fat is shameful, she’s just polite when she talks about nice (cis) people. There’s a lot of people who think the same way as Rowling when they talk about Trump.

Make sure you tickle the rat’s top and bottom. Otherwise the rat won’t understand that it’s play. Rats can be acclimatised to stroking, but it takes longer than tickling, because tickling is designed to mimick natural rat play. Make sure you tickle properly so the rat gets all the benefits of tickling.

I’m a magic-using weirdo and if someone in My coven said this shit, I would tell them to stop using the astral plane to stalk people. In fact, I once was in a situation like this! One of My more benign exes introjected Me and had been having an intimate relationship with the factive based on Me. I requested that they banish/euthanise the factive and expressed a lot of anger and disgust that they had kept this from Me and treated it like a “fun little secret”. Happy to explain the terms at play here to any non-mages who are curious.

Third PSA: deodorant smells fucking awful. I would rather smell your natural stink, though I’d most prefer if you just bathed regularly. Fourth PSA: your surface microbiome can be cultivated through diet and washing habits. If you have a healthy lifestyle, your pit stink will be mild even when you’ve been exercising. (However, your microbiome is inherited from your parents, so if they were disgusting, you might need probiotics)

Capitalism is a fuck, but one thing it does well is it’s kinda evolutionary. If people use a good or service, the production and efficiency (in theory at least) goes up. Putting AI money into solar panels will ramp up solar panel production, if we don’t get a situation like the RAM crisis. ..Actually I think it would cause a situation like the RAM crisis, since everyone knows AI is a bubble. Never mind, I agree with all your points. Unfortunately.

My family lives scattered across America, I in Australia. We spend hours in voice call each day. We use discord for roleplaying games, to watch TV together, to play video games, to chat, to discuss philosophy and politics. Terminally online trans furries are a culture. This is how we participate in the community. Other cultural groups concentrate in one place because of heritability, but we’re randomly born to normal parents, so we’re scattered across the world. You might call us a diaspora. Living together in meatspace is a privilege many of us spend years working to attain. That’s what Element can’t do. And if you don’t understand having a family online, that’s fine. I’m just explaining for the person who asked.

Data centers are actually pretty cool when they’re not being used for ANN tech. Most of the internet runs on them. I rent a virtual private server on a datacenter in Germany and use it to run MULTIVERSE. I say we should require closed cooling loops with no ongoing water costs, and for data centers to produce 110% of their own energy requirements with renewables. That extra 10% will help decarbonise the rest of the economy. That way they become a net positive for the world right now, and in a year or two when the bubble collapses, we get a bunch of cheap, green compute that hobbyists like Myself can use for our little websites. Or they could just turn off the computers and sell the electricity.

no one orders or sorts their WhatsApp/Signal/whatever conversations by name. That’s why those apps fail to create a sense of place and thus community like discord does. It’s a subtle difference, but it has a powerful psychological effect. People don’t spend all day hanging out with their family on Signal.
