It's low hanging theory fruit + "workshop" that's too short to get any actual work done so you read some theory out loud, pause for eating oversweet cookies and gentle reflection, draw a mind-map, and call it a day. Then you can publish a book about all ur ground-breaking artistic research.

That last part about the book is not in the attached curatorial mind-map (which is not a meme but actual documentary footage.) You have to apply for a separate grant for that. High chances they will give it to you, because they already funded u before and sunk cost fallacy applies.

Some lawyers at some random-ass law department seem to be creating more memorable research on speculative fiction, transformative theater, forensic cinema, and architectural theory than most "transdisciplinary artistic researchers" working at the intersection of oof and meh.

Can't say yet if the research is alarming underneath the surface. Deeper dive, more interviews/papers-to-read needed. But the research premises of at least 50% of the faculty are, at first glance and as described by the first informant, compelling AF. Those are some pretty hot stats.

People be dropping the most random one-liners as abstracts. It's giving very white, very male, very German.
