A slightly worried snail who may be too big for their shell... #woodworking #snail
Flying Marmot
Former philosopher, former sign guy, current maker, aspiring cyptid, haunting the streets of Calgary.
Profile picture is a marmot jumping as though it's about to fly
Tried some more detailed carving today, but fell back on mushrooms... Did make one a double, though! #maker #mushroom #woodworking
Surgery 2 complete, this time only under local anesthesia. Interestingly, that does fully blind the eye being worked on. There is now a starry sky in my bad eye as the nerves wake up, the visual equivalent of pins and needles... Really wish I could record that internal experience to share it.
My eye is not yet 100% back from the last surgery and the next has been scheduled. September 15th they'll adjust the lens placement (and run another GATT to wrangle the pressure) and we'll see if round 2 can free me from the trailing ghosts down and to the left of every object!
Artifact from a world where perhaps someone was not too careful with the prime directive... #StarTrek #woodworking
Need to work a bit more on the flowing cloth look, but lots of time to practice before spooky season #woodworking #ghost
This little fella was made with the aid of a local beaver whose nibbled stick end makes the mushroom cap
Not gonna lie, I'm sad we're only spending one night in Saskatoon. If you come here, check out the Living Sky Café, 13 Pies Pizza and Bar, and the High Key Brewery!
Also today a dwarf with a busted up helmet
This little wizardy fellow ended up with mustache and mouth trouble... But I will stand by his curled up cap! #MastoArt #woodworking
Rambling the dinosaurian wilds of the Vermillion River path in Dauphin
I stayed up too late making this little fella, but I'm glad I did!
I'm intrigued by the upcoming Impossible Magic book for #pathfinder2e so I'm making some little critters in case I need to put some minions on the map. Think these make for good little splats of spirit, flesh or blood. Maybe less so for bone...
New lens still has enough light blow out that everything's a bit hazy, which means it has the speckled look of an old VHS camcorder. Especially in combo with the fixed focal length. Think I should make the time to see The Backrooms while I have the built in organic ability to ramp up the uncanny...
Bird fella is too tricky, should have left more room around the head and lowered the shawl/wings... #woodworking
Today is, if course, the anniversary of a somber event. Sure is a good thing that the government didn't let the offending company buy one of the only three remaining telecoms. Oh wait. #canada https://youtu.be/6Uss0jVBAz4
I was trying for ecyoplasmic ghost with pseudo pods, but it may have ended up more quadrapus...
Decided to lean in after I nicked my finger and make this critter a cardinal
First road trip stop is the West Edmonton Mall. There remain a surprising number of spots of uniqueness amongst the tide of Brands
Off to check out Enchanted Okotoks with the fam!
It's time for everyone's (least?) favourite game, check in on the post op recovery! Day 1 you can see the bleeding from where they went through the eyelid to inject freezing and you can actually see just how foggy it is inside the eye just by looking through the cornea.
Would not recemend being conscious for eye surgery, but seeing is good so I guess just don't do it recreationally!
Got to see the world premier of Earth to Colby at the underground film festival yesterday. A fun found footage horror that brings back the old school family horror, not too much for the kids but still engaging to an older audience. Even has a fake call to action website linked at the end of the movie, https://www.findingcolby.com/
Highly recommended!
I have been way too tunnelled in, #yyc ice cream fest starts today! https://yycicecreamfest.com/
The slow process continues and I remain nearly fully blind behind the clot on the right
