We believe an open web starts with choice. That includes AI models.
We’re excited to be partnering with Mistral to bring open-source AI to Firefox Smart Window beta and expand access to France, with French-language support.
For those who choose to use these features in Firefox, you have even more choice in which AI model powers your experience.

The new Firefox design is live in Nightly!
Softer tab shapes, a warmer palette, refreshed icons, and Compact Mode is back. It’s still a work in progress before it rolls out more broadly later this year, so if you’re running Nightly, we'd love feedback on icons, spacing, accessibility, window sizes, and other languages.

Smart Window (Firefox's optional, privacy-first AI browsing experience) has some updates:
New: source-backed answers powered by our Exa.ai partnership, smart tab grouping with one-click duplicate cleanup, and a history view to find pages faster.
What remains: no transcripts kept, no training, nothing sold. Memories stay on-device, fully editable. Private Windows untouched.
This is still in beta, English in US/Canada, and still fully optional.
