Broke up with my bf of 1 & 1/2 years. So I'm officially a Spinster again.

It's been hard, but I've been getting along better than I expected. (I've gone to dark places within myself over breakups before).

I will miss loving and being loved...until love finds me again. I never expected this relationship that fell into my lap, so I'm sure it will happen again one day. I realize that I adore loving someone when I do...all the ushy gushy lovey dovey stuff...I will miss that a lot.

He hurt me. I didn't expect it to go that way. And he didn't want to be a good man...the kind that would take accountability, apologize, and to wish me well...he wanted to stay bitter and cruel and just leave it that way forever. He wanted the end of "us" to hurt, I guess.

That's part of what hurts most, because I would have loved to be able to look back on us and feel good things instead of pain.

Even though he hurt me, I was able to wish him well and to try to be grateful for the love we had while we did. He was not able to get there...he wants to stay bitter and spiteful. That's his choice. I have to realize I don't need his kindness in order to heal, even though it's hard not having it.

It's hard having someone in your life daily and then poof-they're just gone and you'll never see or hear from them again. Even though I've done it a dozen times before, it's still hard every time.

I'll be lonely for a while, while getting used to not having someone there for me all the time. But I'm doing it. One day at a time, I'm finding a way to make peace and to get on with my life. I wish love could be easy and painless, but I think the fact that we are capable of loving so deeply, makes that kind of impossible...the pendulum always swings both ways..

UK'ans!! You lot seem to know your taters! 🥔 What is the best way to keep my taters fresh the longest? I keep buying 5 pound bags and they seem to go belly up before I even get to any of them!

Egg shells. Let's talk about them. I've always heard you should never put them down the garbage disposal and followed that advice, but never really saw a first hand demonstration as to why like I did the other day. I was making eggs the other day at the stove and as I was cracking them, the garbage was full, so I just tossed them on a plate that was sitting next to the sink. I came back like 2 days later to do the dishes and when I went to brush the egg shells off into the trash can, the bottoms of the shells would not come off the plate. Like at all. I took a butter knife and tried to chip at those things like it was an ice pick chipping ice and they just would not budge. I was absolutely shocked. The calcium of the shells plus I assume the egg white mixed and dried into some of the strongest glue I'd ever seen. I had to soak the plate in scalding hot water to get them to finally budge. Then it became clear...can you imagine what they do in your pipes?? Don't do it! Ever!

Well Spinsters!! Today it is hamburger mushroom rotini pasta in a crock pot. Gunna be slow cooking in there for at least 6-8 hours. So I will post pics of the end result! 🍝 🍄

@flick@spinster.club Wait till you see my photos flick! I have to admit I thought of you when adding the mushrooms! Because I know you love them and I make my sauce absolutely loaded with mushrooms. 🤤 The secret to my sauce is putting the small ones in whole and only cutting the large ones in half. After hours in the slow cooker they shrink down pretty significantly, get super tender, and soak the sauce in...and there is nothing like just popping a whole one in your mouth with a spoonful of sauced rotini. Throughout the day - I will occasionally walk by the pot as it is cooking and just spoon a mushroom out covered in sauce and enjoy with bliss 😆

@flick@spinster.club Oh absolutely! Today is the first day I'm actually cold this fall and it just sounded perfect. This is definitely not something I would make in the summer heat. What sort of thing do you like to cook in the crock pot??
