The feds this morning raided and arrested about 15 activists in Minnesota for opposing the occupation of Minnesota. The feds put out a press release stating they are going after anti-fascist, "antifa", organizers, which is telling.

My kid's 5th grade promotion was today. They endured:
-Starting Kindergarten with distance learning during COVID (in Spanish immersion no less)
-hybrid learning this year for 2 months during the occupation of #Minneapolis. Many of my kid's classmates could not leave the house. Luckily our district had a distance learning option because kids in other districts just missed school or went under great fear, and some didn't make it home the end of each day.
These kids have been through a lot. I'm so proud of my kid.

Five minutes from where police murdered George Floyd by asphyxiation, and from where ICE shot Renee Good that morning, ICE knelt on Quentin Williams' back and arrested him. They tried to flip the story around, charging him with felony assault on an officer, later dismissed.
They also said ICE, including publicity seeking diva Greg Bovino just happened to be led on a chase by a US Citizen in the vicinity of this school housing MPS Spanish Immersion high school program when they came onto school grounds harassing students and educators.
There will be a bunch celebrities at #NoKings #StPaul tomorrow, and, that's cool and all but I kinda wish it was just gonna be 100k locals. The #resistance on #Minnesota has been highly effective because everyone, fucking everyone, stepped up, and no one tried to make it their movement. Leaders led with experience, skills, and calling, not personality and politics.

There are a lot of reasons the SAVE act is stupid, and one that is not discussed enough is:
*States can allow non-citizens to vote in federal elections!
*Dozens of states used to allow some non-citizens to vote!
*ONLY states can decide if non-citizens can vote or not in that state
*The federal law making it illegal for non-citizens to vote is unconstitutional
*Federally requiring proof of citizenship to vote would be c unconstitutional because of the above
Write your state legislators and ask them to bring back non-citizen voting

*Facepalm* Oh no I just realized that is of course the Sunday of May Day weekend so I may be out at the Minneapolis May Day festival. We will see though I don't always go because big crowds. #MLB stadiums should have attendance policies and seat fillers for behind home plate. It's obnoxious seeing most teams on TV have over half of these seats empty at any moment. They have servers. Those seats should be filled with people who want to be watching the game.

The proposed new Texas requirements that children be taught Bible stories in school can be seen as an attempt to goad non-christians, secularists, and pluralists to show they can also take advantage of the supreme court ruling that schools have to provide alternative instruction when parents have a religious objection to materials (in that case books where non-hetero people exist). This is a calculated attempt to get people from all sides and beliefs to overburden #PublicSchools with their objections so the "brilliant" solution will be school vouchers for private schools and religious publicly funded charter schools.
Folks who believe in public schools, and have kids in them still need to understand that yes, they receive indoctrination, and you do need to incolulate your kids against it. With escalated religious indoctrination you'll just have to do some more, and organize. Collective problems require collective solutions. More individualism won't defeat individualism.

The biggest question is not whether Iran won/is winning (yes) but whether the war is actually over. It's a 60 day ceasefire (a partial one - possible ceasefire in Lebanon developing as I write), and a stated desire for a permanent end. But when you look at the positions of the US, Iran, as well as Israel, there's a too much room between their positions, and Iran's leverage is too great compared to the US's desired outcomes, to take their commitment to end the war seriously. So all this points to Iran having the upper hand but fighting not being definitely over.
I don't often share stuff from Meta social media on here but this is very much worth watching if you wanna know what kind of *scary* *dangerous* people they're charging here in #Minnesota
