Any significant changes to Tildes are extremely unlikely - ~tildes.official [Reddit Alternative]
I wasn’t sure where to post this, but it seems like Tildes is pretty much dead now. This is why decentralized is the only possible good future.
Hopefully all the users move to Lemmy/PieFed/Mbin

I have no faith that current Blizzard would be able to beat StarCraft 2 anyways, they would just hurt the scene by dividing the playerbase more and SC3 would likely fizzle out sooner

Catodon 26.9.0 stable released!
Catodon 26.9.0 - what’s new
Multi-server accounts - you can now sign in or sign up on any other Misskey- or Mastodon-API server, not just this one. Works with Pixelfed GoToSocial, Akkoma, and the Misskey family too.
Customizable timelines - pick what fills your Home slot and arrange up to 9 tabs from Following, your other accounts, forums, RSS, antennas, lists, and more. Syncs across devices.
New media timeline with a masonry layout.
Quote posts that are compatible with Mastodon’s implementation, federated via FEP-044f.
Hashtag following - follow tags natively, federated, with a hover preview and Custom feed support.
PeerTube video streaming - remote PeerTube videos now stream over HLS instead of just linking out.
Blogs got content warnings and per-blog privacy settings, plus a raw HTML mode in the editor.
Right-to-left language support - the whole UI now mirrors properly for RTL languages.
ALTCHA added as the default self-hosted, privacy-friendly captcha option.
A big security pass: closed several SSRF holes (URL previews, RSS fetching, JSON-LD verification), fixed a password-reset bug that let a moderator reset another admin’s password, tightened 2FA/TOTP replay protection, patched a few data-visibility leaks, and pulled in ~90 hardening fixes adapted from upstream Sharkey. Nothing here was known to be actively exploited, but if you’re running your own instance, update promptly.
Plus a long tail of smaller fixes: broken federation edge cases (forums, blog permalinks, PeerTube lookups), a mention-notification race, sharper remote media, and assorted UI polish.
docker pull codefloe.com/catodon/catodon:26.9.0
or
docker pull codefloe.com/catodon/catodon:latest
For an existing installation:
docker compose pull
docker compose run --rm web pnpm run migrate
docker compose up -d
Full instructions: codefloe.com/catodon/catodon/src/…/install.md#doc…
Migrating from Sharkey: codefloe.com/catodon/catodon/src/…/install.md#mig…
Please take a db and files backup before migrating! Enjoy =)

People don't talk about this enough, Lemmy's "Hot" sort is kinda garbage lol. It leans too heavily towards new posts. Same thing with sorting comments by Hot. "Active" is more in-line with what Reddit users expect, or something like Top 6 Hours. I haven't tested Mbin's "Hot" much.
I remember a user on Reddit saying that Lemmy is dead because they looked at All+Hot and saw very few comments. On Lemmy right now I go to All+Hot and the front page posts mostly have 0 to 3 comments. All+Active is showing mostly posts with 50 to 200 comments. All+Top 6 Hours mostly has 5 to ~30 comments.

I think maybe it would be better to just tweak the Hot algorithm slightly. Maybe either adjust the curve, or use max(age, 1 hour) in the calculation so that new content is not favored quite as hard, aka new content is scored as if it were an hour old.
But you could make a dedicated discussion post asking about this, so more people can see

We really need better onboarding for new users, maybe ask them about their interests to give them a default set of subscriptions (it would probably just be a tweaked version of the community search page). And default to the subscribed feed, not the All feed

One issue is I think Lemmy’s UX means there’s less friction with local communities than remote communities (not sure why) which is why usually the lemmy.world version of communities typically wins without a lot of effort to steer people
