Uh, what do you want to read here? Interests? Programming and stuff, the small things I know about electronics, repairing gizmos, preserving old thingies, photography also. Languages? English and French mostly.
Some autistic person always lacking time and energy to do some cool side-projects.
Uh also trans rights are good and AI companies are bad.

Hello Fediverse, I know there are some people somewhere who know about electronics and repair. I would be happy if you could boost my toot. [TL;DR: I want to identify and buy a button]
I’ve got an electric trimmer that I think fell down, the button failed to turn it on even after charging so I opened it, and it seems that shorting the push button with my multimeter probe is reliable, but pushing the button isn’t (it sometimes even turns on without me touching it).
I’ve attached a macro photo of the button (it’s a silghtly rectangular 4-pin SMD push button, with a somewhat oval button on top): I guess that’s what would need replacing (I have a soldering station), but I don’t really know where to go to try to identify and buy the same button.
I’ve tried looking on the internet a bit but I’m not sure I know the right search terms. If I have to look at hundreds of buttons on mouser to find it, I could (I did that already for my Nexus 6’s charge port*) but I’d like to be able to filter down enough first.
Thanks a lot!
*turns out they didn’t sell the exact model, only one with flanges, I found the port on eBay in the end, but it really looks like they just cut off the flanges
@ramsey@phpc.social I think some allow you to remove the lid from the body, which would be easier to clean than mine where it’s fixed to it using a hinge. In general I would just get the simplest and cheapest.
@mgorny@social.treehouse.systems From my French point of view 5km/h seems to be the standard (though I wouldn’t say people get angry as the difference is smaller maybe).
