This is a problem for somebody reviewing phones, but how much of a problem is it actually for the average user who will change phones once every few years? And will probably be doing so at a phone store where they can support it.

Can't your phone store multiple esims? I thought that was actually one of the selling points of the stuff.

The carrier can bypass that authentication, so basically the same process as if you had lost your physical sim. Show up at the shop in person with id.

AFAIK, the only 'improvement' is that it takes up less physical space.

There’s a lot of misguided enthusiasm over taking people out of the loop and somehow making a system that will purely automatically find what we need, there’s no such thing. Web rings and directories were how it should be done. That’s fine for interests and hobbies, but if I’m looking for a specific bit of information am I supposed to go diving through a Web ring in hopes I strike it lucky?

Works fine for me. Download links are 3rd party, so it can be a crapshoot sometimes, just try different servers till it works.

I don’t know what you’re installing, but it takes 400MB on my phone.
